Welcome to the all new New Moon Astro Astro articles. I have been thinking about writing about our new moon phase for quite some time and recently a friend has asked me to do so. With a willingness to write and to respond to such requests, I’ve decided to give it a go. I am a self taught predictive astrology interpreter. This means I research everything I write in these particular articles and credit my sources at the end of the final document. Moreover, In the few years I have been writing about the full moon phase, I have learned a great deal about astrology and moon phases and now tend toward my own intuition on a lot of what I research and write. Astrology was always a subject I enjoyed coupled with astronomy when I was very young. Its a shame that this wasn’t on offer at school, I think I would have dedicated my education to it. However, it wasn’t part of the curriculum so, I rediscovered my love of learning about it soon after finishing my Classics degree a few years ago. Ancient history, ancient beliefs, ritual, astrology & astronomy are keen interests of mine. So without further ado, let me discuss what I know about this month’s new moon, with you.

New moon is the very beginning of the lunar cycle, when the thinnest of silver slithers can be seen in the night sky. Prior to this we have dark moon, when the sky is void of the moon altogether, I’ll leave that for another discussion.  A maiden’s Winter to Spring time moon phase holding space for generating new ideas and planning new projects, new beginnings, soul searching and discovering your personal truths. New moon is a time when the Sun and Moon share the same degree in the same Sun / Star sign. This means that your exterior personality, your ego and your interior personality, your emotions and feelings are in complete balance with each other. This provides us with a clarity around ourselves. Just sit with that thought for a minute.

New Moon is the best time to set intentions, plant the seeds of hope for what you would like to nurture and grow for the coming month or as part of your annual intentions. This is a bit like new years resolutions but with more clout behind them! This is the new fresh cycle, the new chapter if you like. New moon brings abundant opportunities to start over, rework areas of your life, or make the adjustments needed to previous plans which you have already been working on. On a personal note, it encourages me to stand in my truth and do the work that is freely flowing to me, spiritually and practically, like this new Moon, new writing venture.

This month November - December is overseen by the fiery zodiac sign Sagittarius, (22 November - 20 December). So, the Sun and Moon both sit in this sign at New Moon phase. Sagittarius is known as the Centaur and the Archer. And what do archer’s do best? They load up their bows, take aim, and fire their arrows with great verve and as much precision as possible. Furthermore, the mythological Centaur is a natural and wise leader. Therefore, If we tap into this wisdom, it allows us to direct arrows in the direction that supports our highest growth. Sagittarius is ruled by the planet of luck and expansion, the mighty Jupiter. I know we have been under the light of a deeply transforming Scorpio moon and prior to that we were encouraged to find balance under Libra. So what has all of this finding balance and deep transformation been leading us to?

This New Moon can raise our vibration in that we consider what we can do to be of service to others. Sagittarius season is one where we can appreciate the goodness in our lives, being thankful for our good fortune. It also encourages us to think about those in the world who are less fortunate than we are and to give something back.

Sagittarius loves to learn, expand and uncover truths. We are being encouraged to expand our way of thinking by seeking out and learning new and ancient ways of the ancestors, which will encourage us to live a life in symbiosis with our planet; to reach further into our psyche and to listen for the answers to our questions on our personal truth and purpose. This New Moon is encouraging us to remember. We are being asked to accept the change we have been experiencing, release that which is no longer of service. This is something we do at both new and full moon phase. It is the perfect time to ask yourself what it is that excites you and what new venture could serve your personal and spiritual growth? How can you be of service for the greater good?

New Moon and Sagittarius will affect us over the next few weeks, depending on what you have been experiencing over the past couple of months, with healing of the shadow, finding clarity, walking in the direction of your sense of purpose and your passions, trusting &  honouring the returning light to invigorate the plans you will set in motion. The only real downside to this New Moon is the planetary aspect of Mars opposite Uranus which can bring about anger, upset and rebelliousness. All I’m saying to that is keep your mind on track and away from petty dramas!

In addition, Sagittarius season is a time when Mother Nature recedes back into herself to complete the inner workings, behind the scenes that we see and enjoy on our planet with each seasonal shift. We should take a leaf out of her book and mirror her actions. Sagittarius season heralds us toward the end of the year and into Winter we go, so is a time between seasons, where we think rather than do. We return to ourselves and take stock of what has happened this past year. We consider what worked out and what didn’t. We recognise & release that which has become obsolete. Then we begin to make plans to further implement positive change and to think of what will serve us best in the coming new year (Capricorn Season). This is our time to hibernate and enjoy the warmth of the hearth, rejuvenating and readying ourselves for the next season. Unfortunately, because of our societal norms and pressures, many people are out of synch with the seasons in this way and suffer during this period with exhaustion because they feel compelled to partake of the festive cheer. Its that time of year to celebrate and be sociable with friends and colleagues. Yule is on its way and the promise of the returning warmth of the Sun. Its waxing energy with fiery Sagittarius will be helping us to heat up the roots of our desires and dreams. The perfect mix of Sagittarian energy is to go within and learn deep truths and to heal the wounded shadow. However, the flip side to Sagittarius is that restlessness and want to get out and about, to experience and socialise. Sagittarius’ mutable qualities make for an adaptable month. My advice is try not to burn yourself out, especially if you want to burst forth in the Spring time with new plans and projects you’ve dreamt up over the darker part of the year. Find your happy medium (balance) and know yourself well enough to say no, when you need some Me time or rest. Be festive and sociable In your own space as it makes for a better more ‘in synch with Mother Nature’ kind of month.

So look deep, feel deep, learn & expand, listen for answers, find clarity, work on the roots of those dreams to reality thoughts and implement the necessary changes to plans which you may have already begun this past year. This is the season of the archer, so dream big & aim high. And remember, rest well when your body tells you to or you run the risk of serious burnout this season.

That's it for Astro Astro's first New Moon article. I wish you a Merry New Moon and hope that you find what it is you are truly in search of.

I will be researching & writing the Full moon article before Full phase on 12th December 2019, where we will discuss the Full Cold Moon in Watery Cancer. Looking forward to it.

In Gratitude & love
