9 AUG 2025 @8:54 GMT

All Hail & welcome to this months Astro: Full Moon article. All well meaning cosmic travellers & the curious are welcome in this space. Welcome aboard the intergalactic journeying portal I embark upon each Full & New lunar phase. Please make yourselves comfortable, park your broom, pick a toadstool or rock to be seated upon, set your curiosity to eyes & arms wide open to receive the goodness that this journey offers you all in love & trust. We have been experiencing the Sirius Portal of Lionsgate (26/7 - 12/8), where many of us have been receiving spiritual downloads & manifestations, realisations & the birthing of new concepts, adding to our previous knowledge, in addition to an en masse awakening energy which shifts our evolution on track to authenticity & acceptance of these new energies. It sounds rather ‘out there’ & to some extent it is! My personal experiences have been truly organic & very personal revelations. How about you?

This Full phase is overflowing with energy from this inner & intergalactic transitioning. In addition to what we already know about Full phase & all its abundance, we will take a look at what the aspected planets have in store for us. Plenty of that weaving later. For now, let us embark on our journeying through naming of our beautiful celestial being throughout the globe. My blessings to you all & happy journeying…

Naming the Moons

ree

Naming the full moon each month is an ancient phenomenon indicating the changing seasons, agricultural and ecological events during the year. Given ecological variants these names differ dependant on geographical region. Indigenous American names for Augusts full moon range from Sturgeon Moon, Corn Moon, Green Corn Moon, Dog Days Moon and Lightening Moon. The Siouan tribes of Montana called this moon Black Cherries Moon and the Indigenous peoples of Northern Canada named this moon Swan Flight Moon. In China the August Moon is named Harvest Moon. In India, on 13th August we are in the month of Bhardrapad with the celebration of Bhardrapad Purnima. The Celtic Medieval British named this moon Dispute Moon, Lynx Moon and Grain Moon. Druidic names can vary, however we are in the Month of the Hazel, Coll, which covers 5th August - 1st September,. The Hazel moon was called Coll to the Celts which meant ‘Life force inside of you’. Hazel moon is associated with the appearance of hazelnuts, in addition wisdom, knowledge, divination, dowsing & dream journeying. In addition, the Hazel moon is feminine by nature and often called the Moon of the wise or Crone Moon. The magical aspects enhanced by this moon include protection, fertility, manifestation & spirit contact. It is seen as a good month for creative’s. Hazel moon is associated with holy wells & springs which contain the Salmon of knowledge.

Full Moon is the pinnacle of all that was set in motion around New Moon, the fruition of our seeds of intent. it signifies the fullness & fecundity of our ideas & dreams.  Full Moon illuminates those things which are hidden or that which we hide ourselves from. It is a great time to release that which, we have come to understand is no longer serving our purpose, with grace & gratitude for the lessons we have learned.

Sun in Leo is bold & individualistic. A fixed Fire sign of the regal lion who is ruled by the sun, so is really in its element right now. Abundant self expression & assertiveness may need to be reigned in a little, until a more logical expression has been found for ideas & personal will. We don’t wish to seem over zealous with our passion & arrogant with our confidence. Leo is the drama queen of the zodiac, so it is a good idea to think before we act out. This sign is mostly about the ‘me’ in us all & as such can be a little too over enthusiastic in leading, rather than being part of a joint venture in which the group takes the credit. We need to be mindful of where we step if we take on exciting group ventures.

Moon in Aquarius - August Full Moon is in the sign of the water bearer which is quite deceiving if taken at face value as this is actually a fixed Air sign. This is the sign of healing & transition. Aquarian energy is going to be strong at this full moon. We may be able to transform dense damaging energies into hope & love by being fully present & aware. This is a good time to realise our own uniqueness & intelligence, sharing with others when apt. It is also a good time to honour our intuition & to act on it accordingly. We each have gifts which we enjoy & now is a great time to share them with others who may benefit from them. Furthermore, Aquarius is ruled by both Saturn & Uranus, Saturn is strongly placed in aspect to the Moon, semi-squared along with Neptune. So in as much as Aquarian energies of humanitarianism, intuition, science & innovation are all possible, there are also the more rebellious, extremist aspects to this sign we need to consider, as well as whatever Saturn & Neptune semi-square can bring to the cauldron, more on that in the 'Planetary aspects' section. For a start, try to avoid people who are disruptive & damaging to us; impulsive & extreme behaviour will also not benefit us at this time. Aquarius is group oriented & Moon in Aquarius is ultra modern, experimental & friendly. Sincerely humanitarian Aquarius, may find our emotions lead to helping others at this time.

Sun opposite moon - opposing forces are in play whenever we have a full moon. As the Sun in Leo sits opposite Moon in Aquarius, we may see these polarities play out in our lives. Our home & family lives are brought into the spotlight together with our close relationships. We may feel tension act out in how individualistic we can be compared to our community spirit. Our values may come into focus & we may have to address these issues to be able to move forward in a more positive manner. These issues will concentrate around how we feel, our attitude & circumstance. So, what is already prominent in our lives will come to the fore for examination such as home & work, need & want, individualism & community, independence & co-dependence. With all of the dominant Aquarian energies available to us, we will have a cornucopia of help, healing & being part of something which could heal us & others around us. We may also find closure in being able to make a final decision or we may reach an intuitively guided point in our journey where we finally realise which direction we ought to be travelling in to get to where we need to be in life. For this we need to sit within our open heartspace & act from a place of love & compassion, giving this full moon permission to hold us in that space, so that we emanate grace, love & wisdom into our decisions & beam out the same such energy in everything we do.

Planetary influences

ree

There is an awful lot occurring in this section, but I don't wish to confuse any issues by being too technical, so I will attempt to reduce my waffling...and boy can I waffle when it comes to this section!

Full Moon loosely conjunct Pluto Rx in Aquarius (Rx = retrograde, so a slowing down of these energies) - Pluto is the planet of transformation, shedding the old for the tangible. As the planet of cycles, birth, death, regeneration & rebirth in the sign of humanitarianism & modernity, we can expect that alongside what is illuminated for us during Full Moon, there will be a lot of deep recognition & emotional turmoil. We can act from our deepest emotions maturely or react from our primal self. in this case of Pluto Rx, we are being encouraged to use our acknowledgement & acceptance within our emotional sphere to work through the illuminated issues we are being faced with. On a level of maturity, we can approach situations with wisdom & intellect, rather than a primal reaction from a place of hurt & animosity.

Full Moon semi-square Saturn & Neptune (both in Rx) in Aries - Full Moon represents our innermost feelings, emotions & past, Saturn is the zodiac taskmaster who loves things to be done properly & by positive action. Neptune is the planet of illusion & is where the equation of deception versus desire comes into play. This is a wake up call to get real with yourself, Making sacrifices for the benefit of your dreams & aspirations. Doing things by the book or at least getting straight with yourself, is definitely on the cards. Where have you been deceiving yourself ? How can you communicate which direction you wish life to go in, in the most productive way?

Full Moon semi-sextile North Node - May upset the applecart with the behaviour of others. However, will work well with the trine to Saturn, when it comes to support of hard work & what looks like a contradiction of terms.

Full Moon Quintile Mars (Rx) in Libra - an awareness of conflicts within the relationships with love, others, finances area of life. This is an opportunity to avoid conflict & find resolution. Although this may seem a slow process, it will be beneficial.

Full Moon bi-quintile Jupiter in Cancer- Jupiter is at home in Cancer, so this will surround a desire to build & expand on home or matriarchal issues.

As Full Moon happens at the same time as Mars rx in Libra opposes Saturn & Neptune (both Rx) in Aries, we may experience some form of tension surrounding any highlighted issues especially those which include finding purposeful activities. We may find our energies sputtering until we find the inspiration we need to integrate our plans into daily life, creating routine. We need the impetus to get moving. Full Moon also happens alongside Venus conjunction to Jupiter, so we can expect some form of hope within this tense atmosphere.
