Astro: Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Pisces

28/08/2026 @ 5:18 BST
Hail & welcome to August’s edition of Astro: Full Moon lunar eclipse in Dreamy Pisces. I Hope you are all in good stead & ready to receive all the universe has on offer for you. After this month’s Solar eclipse, we now have a lunar eclipse
The turning wheel of the year is slowly moving us into the cooler, darker part of the year & along with that a change in how we visualise our lives, spirituality, deities, nature & of course how we treat & work with our shadow self. There is much preparation to be done on a personal & spiritual level at this moment & so much to look forward to too.
As these articles go, we will have a meander through the naming of the moons which is an international, interfaith phenomenon. I shall discuss this Moon’s astrological significance & list September’s astronomical events for you. Enjoy the read & journeying with me, with my gratitude.
Naming the Moons
We begin with the naming of the full moons. Each month’s full moon tends to be named after a geographical natural event or agricultural phenomenon. Depending on where in the world you are, you may find that the full moon name is different from other places across the globe. Here is a round-up of the names I have discovered referring to the August full moon. The native American names for August’s full moon range from Sturgeon Moon, Corn Moon, Green Corn Moon, Dog Days Moon & Lightening Moon. The Siouan tribes of Montana called this moon Black Cherries Moon. The Inuit peoples of Northern Canada named this moon Swan Flight Moon. In China the August Moon is named Harvest Moon. Whilst In India we are in the month of Bhardrapad with the celebration of Bhardrapad Purnima. The Celtic Medieval British named this moon Dispute Moon, Lynx Moon and Grain Moon. Druidic names can vary, we entered the Month of the Hazel, Coll, on 5th August - 1st September. The Hazel moon was called Coll to the Celts which meant ‘Life force inside of you’. Hazel moon is associated with the appearance of hazelnuts, wisdom, knowledge, divination, dowsing & dream journeying. Hazel moon is feminine by nature and often called the Moon of the wise or Crone Moon. The magical aspects enhanced by this moon include protection, fertility, manifestation & spirit contact. It is seen as a good month for creatives. Hazel moon is associated with holy wells & springs which contain the Salmon of knowledge.
Astrology

Full moon is all about culmination of that which was begun at New Moon. It is a time for finding balance between the opposing solar & lunar energies. In this case the Sun, our ego & personality & ambitions, is in extremely organised Virgo, the ruler of our daily life-tools. The Moon, our emotions & inner personality & nurtutre is in dreamy, visionary Pisces governor of our spiritual tools. Finding the balance between your daily schedule and your spirituality & dreams may become slightly chaotic right now, if unbalanced in favour of one rather than equilibrious. The key is to be present in the moment, to retain order in daily life whilst allowing ourselves to express our spiritual needs. To unbalance these two would not be of any benefit. Find your happy ground with both.
If you are empathic, this is a moon in which I would advise you to take extra protective precautions of your own energies. What you may be open to receive could become quite overwhelming during this full phase. Therefore, there is a need to remain grounded & protected. Keep your eyes & ears peeled for being taken for granted, right now may not be the time to overdo helping others who could be energy vampires.
The Sun represents our ego, core self & ambitions which are visible to the rest of the world. Sun in Virgo brings us organisation, harmony, perfectionism, practicality, understanding & service to others. However, too much of this can create compulsive obsessive order in your life. Remember nothing is perfect. So called imperfections are what make us unique, even if that refers to our quirky & creativeness in or outside the world of employment. Just be the amazing you that you are.
Full moon in Pisces, Mythologically, the two fish represent Aphrodite & her son Eros who escaped Typhon & in so doing tied themselves together to remain together whilst escaping, thus this sign is about unity & protection. We may feel an urgent need to change direction, but best to wait until clarity arrives when eclipse is over before making an important decision.
Full moon is a time of peaking emotions & psychic awareness. Moon in Pisces is visionary, dreamy, intuitive, creative & psychically attuned to divine. Too much of this ether-reality can cause chaos to your daily life and you may become disenfranchised from your day-to-day schedule. So, here is a need to practice grounding techniques such as barefoot walking, salt bathing or outdoor meditation. In addition, take some time to ask your body & mind to reject anything which does not belong & is not meant for you in a spiritual or energy depleting manner. This is an intuitive moon so it’s time to tap into you, to trust your instincts especially when it comes to personal freedom, attending events, changes in routine & self expression. You may find a new found freedom & meet new people who reflect your chosen lifestyle.
As Full moon’s go, this is also a time to release that which no longer serves our purpose or pathway. This month’s gentle, creative, empathic, flowing moon can bring us awareness and focus on the places which need to be cleared. With a helpful aspect formed with Mars, there could be greater emotional strength, confidence & affirmation of family bonds. Planetary forces can help move us into a place of higher consciousness & offer us a deeper relationship with cosmic energies. Right now, is a good time to break bad habits & level with ourselves. Time to be brutally honest with ourselves. We deserve the truth no matter how much it may hurt to release those things, people, memories, habits, which we cling to for no good reason. Stop making excuses for them & release that which is not serving your life.
In addition, relationships may come under scrutiny from the stirring cauldron & ladle of Venus & Saturn, who are also both active this full moon.
Lunar Eclipse

Lunar eclipses tend to centre around relationships; however, this doesn’t mean just the love relationships, but most connections we are part of. Whist Eclipse is happening, something in our lives is being hidden from us, so it’s very important to remember not to make any huge decisions until eclipse is over, as the ramifications of your actions can resonate through the next 6 months.
This is a time of emotional release (Full Moon), often bringing unresolved feelings to the surface (eclipse). This Eclipse is offering reflection & release of what no longer serves, allowing for personal transformation & growth.
Know that you are not alone, even if it feels as though help is hidden from you or hidden from an area of life during eclipse.
This eclipse takes place in the sign of the fish, Pisces. Each is travelling in different directions, one upstream against the flow toward breeding & learning grounds. The other is dreamily going with the flow. Both will reach to their destination, the sea, in their own time. If you find yourself meandering away from plans, remember that the universe has a way of helping us in the most random ways. Some, if not all of what we learn on this excursion will come in handy for our original goals. Going with the flow of what is presented to us may have another fruitful reason behind it. Furthermore, we may feel the need to change direction immediately, but best to wait until clarity arrives when eclipse is over before making an important decision.
Planetary Influences

Mercury in Virgo conjunct Sun, opposite Moon – Sun conjunct Mercury tends to offer us clarity through communication; quick wit & a wish to share ideas & creative energies. This aspect opposite Moon, watch for misunderstandings as emotion & intellect clash; we may experience the shocking reality of some areas of life, hard truths which need to be seen & accepted. Thoughtful communication is key.
Moon Sesquiquadrante Venus in Libra – A Sesquiquadrante is a cosmic nudge, out of your comfort zone. This movement will be in reference to our inner thoughts, emotional needs around expressing affections within love & family relationships, relationships with money/ finances. There may be some frustration surrounding love, comfort & money.
When within a social setting, Ask: Are you people pleasing or is this a real connection? All being well, this aspect can offer us charm, confidence, clarity & compromise in our relationships & can take things to a higher level, if we can tap into this energy.
Saturn semi-square Moon – A semi square introduces some stress & possible friction between emotion & responsibilities. Find your balance between your feelings & responsibilities. There are some very strong organisation & leadership energies with this moon. We are being asked to stand in our truth & to own it. With this comes taking responsibility for what we do & say, the way we act, not to pass the buck & blame to others for our behaviour. Remember, we choose to react a certain way, we can also choose react differently, by being compassionate, loving & caring. Think before any actions & be aware that your actions are yours & yours alone. Perhaps now is a good time to practice what you preach & lead by example. Be the force of change & beacon of light you want in this life! Above all remain steadfast in the present moment, the here & now.
