Welcome to June’s edition of Astro: Full strawberry moon in Capricorn. So, we embark on our journeying though the cosmic tides, to navigate our way through the various qualities of Capricorn Full Moon & planetary aspects occurring at this given time. I begin by naming this month’s moons. I will discuss all things astrological for this phase and just beyond, how this may affect us and how we can cope with this phase, whilst I discuss the important planetary influences this moon will incur. Awareness of these aspects can help us to become a driving force of goodness within our own & other’s lives. We can become the beacon of light for others by overcoming our own fears & deepest wounds.
Lastly, I will list all of the astronomical events for the month of full bloom right up until July’s Full Moon. Let’s cast off for another cosmic adventure, without further ado…
Naming the Moons

Naming the moons is an international phenomenon which directly relates to the geographical agriculture of the ancients. Although today agriculture has subsequently moved into another era in which machinery is used to do a majority of work, we still use the names which were given by our ancestors to the full moons. Various names have been given to each moon as a consequence of the movements of the old ways. Native American names for June’s full moon are Strawberry Moon, Planting Moon or Green Corn Moon. The Siouan tribes of Montana call this moon the Full Leaf Moon, whilst indigenous Northern Canadian folk call June’s Moon the Hunting Moon. In China this will be known as the Lotus Moon. The Indian calendar is a Lunar calendar in which each Lunar month is named and celebrations are committed to. This will be the Lunar month of ashadh, with the celebrations of Guru Purnima and Vyas Purnima. Hindu’s celebrate Maharshi Veda Vyasa, the the sage who was believed to have edited the sacred Hindu Vedic texts, the writing of the 18 Puranas, Mahabharata & the Srimad Bhagavatam, all of which form the basis of the Hindu religion. It is also a celebration of teachers of spirituality. This also marks the beginning of the Monsoon season, is also celebrated by farmers, so is considered a truly auspicious time for many.
Astrology

Our beautiful celestial being will enter Full phase on 29- 30 June, depending on your geographical area. A Full moon occurs when the sun & moon are opposite each other. This aspect brings turmoil & tension between the two, ego versus emotion, external versus internal us, work versus home. They are in opposite zodiac signs and as such this could cause drama in our lives, depending on which energies we are attuned to. If we can keep ourselves within the parameters of the positive points of each, we keep the energies busy, where they affect us with minimal stress. However, this also depends on what other planetary influences are in play during this phase, which will be discussed further in this section.
Sun in Cancer - The Sun is all about self & ego, representing life force, consciousness, creativity, self-identity, self-expression & self- integration. In Cancer, we find ourselves to be cautious of self- expression, highly emotional as this is a water sign, we expect the ebb & flow. However, because Cancer is the sign of the Moon & is not very content to sit opposite its ruling planet, we may feel a little discomfort in our ego. We may have been or experienced possessiveness, nurturing, tenacity & withdrawal. This is our outer ego, the one which is seen by the outside world.

Moon in Capricorn - The Moon is our eternal feminine linking spirit & matter, our inner thoughts, self- talk & expression, our past & intuition, mostly our emotional side which is kept internally by us & nurtured. At Full Moon we are at a state of abundance & fullness which can create polar feelings from overwhelm to serenity. We feel into our emotions, instincts, receptiveness, mothering nature & subconsciousness. The Moon in Capricorn is emotionally controlled; however, this moon will have exuberance at a higher level. It is a moon of self- reliance, dependability. Moon in Capricorn urges the need to be in control of family & environment. Beware of authoritarianism & absolutes.
The Full Moon encourages us to balance the polarities we are faced with during this phase. We are being asked to find the balance between our private lives & our public lives; home vs work; our home base, roots & nurture vs career, reputation & accountability. This polarity is asking us to find balance between attachment, unconditional love & origin vs Achievements, punishments, conditional love & goals. Finding balance between the two is essential to avoid chaos in our lives. Knowing our own limitations is key to understanding where to be more independent & where we may need help.
PLANETARY INFLUENCES

Full Moon opposite Sun - denotes opposing forces in play. The key is balance between both. In this case the polarities suggest home & family vs public life & work. Love & nurture (Cancer) vs career & reputation ( Capricorn)
Full Moon square Neptune & Saturn – Squares tend to create tension between 2 points. In this case the Moon’s nurture, emotions & past vs Saturn’s task-mastering & Neptune’s watery dreams & wishes. This may make things a little murky & we may find it difficult to see what is reality & what is illusion. Confusion & tension can arise. This may be a better time for reflection & making some difficult decisions.
Full Moon biquintile Uranus – Inspiration, innovation, harmony, unique ideas. This may be a good aspect to use creative thought to make decisions. Using both newer & more traditional methods to help you do so.
ASTRONOMY
14 July will see a new moon in Cancer

28-29 Delta Aquarids peak – meteor shower produces up to 20 meteors an hour. It runs from July to August. A full moon will prevent seeing the smaller meteors but with a bit of patience you might be able to see some of the larger meteors, from a dark place.
29 will be Full moon in Leo
That’s it for now, my lovelies. I hope you find the next couple of weeks navigating the cosmic energies positive & productive.
