FULL MOON

11-12/06/2025 @8:44 GMT
All hail & Welcome to Astro: Full Strawberry Mead Moon in the sign of the archer, Sagittarius! We shall be traversing the cosmic alliances & oppositions, working our way through the sea of cosmic interactions which have an effect on us here on planet Earth. As our conduit moon reaches fullness, we may feel the need to release that which is no longer serving our highest good. We have a newness for ourselves to work with & this can be easy or difficult depending on our own personal reactions to what is occurring cosmically at this time.
With Litha/ Summer solstice just around the corner, we are meandering toward the fullness of the Wheel of the year where Mother Earth, who gives us sustenance as she blooms into the summer months is about to reach the peak of her fecundity. Coupled with the expansive solar energies reaching their peak at Litha, we are about to enter a time in which we take joy & understand more about that which has made itself known to us over the past Eclipse season, the past few months lunations.
Its been a roller-coaster of emotions & transformative energies leading us toward change in our lives, hasn’t it? Do not despair! Help is on the horizon as we approach the peak solar apex & begin to make our descent into the darker months of the year. But first, lets embark upon our voyage of discovery through the cosmic energies of this full moon phase……
Naming the Moons

Naming the moons is an international phenomenon which directly relates to the geographical agriculture of the ancients. Although today agriculture has subsequently moved into another era in which machinery is used to do a majority of work, we still use the names which were given by our ancestors to the full moons. Various names have been given to each moon as a consequence of the movements of the old ways. Native American names for June’s full moon are Strawberry Moon, Planting Moon or Green Corn Moon. The Siouan tribes of Montana call this moon the Full Leaf Moon, whilst indigenous Northern Canadian folk call June’s Moon the Hunting Moon. In China this will be known as the Lotus Moon. The Indian calendar is a Lunar calendar in which each Lunar month is named and celebrations are committed to. This will be the Lunar month of Ashadh, from June 12 with the celebrations of Guru Purnima and Vyas Purnima. Hindu’s celebrate Maharshi Veda Vyasa, the the sage who was believed to have edited the sacred Hindu Vedic texts, the writing of the 18 Puranas, Mahabharata & the Srimad Bhagavatam, all of which form the basis of the Hindu religion. It is also a celebration of teachers of spirituality. This also marks the beginning of the Monsoon season, is also celebrated by farmers, so is considered a truly auspicious time for many.
The British Medieval names for June’s Full moon are Mead Moon, Horse Moon, Dyan Moon and Rose Moon. The Druidic calendar places us from the month of the Oak into the month of Holly. The Holly Moon is feminine by nature and is also known as the moon of encirclement, polarity & protection. Aspects are protection, prophesy, sex magick, magick concerning animals. The Coligny calendar assigns the month the name Equos, meaning Horse time.
Astrology

Full Moon is a time of fullness & fruition. As our Lunar satellite moves into full phase & into abundance, we too are given a chance to feel into that abundance, to re-evaluate those seeds we planted at New Moon or before. It is a time of releasing all that has not worked out or that is no longer meant for us. Now is a time of completion, peaking emotional energies within relationships, romance, mysteries & feeling excitement for what life has in store for us. The moon represents our inner self, our past, our intuition & psychic awareness, the things we think about internally. These all play their part in making full moon a particularly intense time indeed.
Full Moon in Sagittarius, the sign of the Archer. The archer takes careful aim before firing arrows in the direction we want to go in. We may feel we lack energy for any of this right now. We could rightfully sit back & relax into this part of the year, allowing ourselves to gather energies for the next episode or harvest. We could use this time to think about the direction our lives are going in, how we wish to get there & where to place our arrows, so that we reach our desired destination with all that we need to progressively move forward into this life we are co creating with the universe. This makes a good time for planning & understanding what has been working for us & what has not, what we have learned from & now need to release. In addition, Sagittarius is the sign of the adventurer, a pupil of life’s experiences, accepting challenges, forever seeking wisdom.
Ask yourself
What makes ME happy?
What makes my heart sing?
What do I need to do to be able to view life in a less ordinary way?
How & where can I add adventure to create a zest for life?
How can I bring myself into the present moment with a joyful approach to what happens?
This is the fiery, creative energy of Sagittarius Moon. If we can bring ourselves to this place & answer ourselves in a meaningful way, we tap into the flow of this moon.
The Sun is in Gemini & sits opposite the Moon in Sagittarius. Gemini is the sign of the twins, finding opposing sides to every situation, in addition according to Greek mythology, one represents immortality & the Soul, the other mortality & the physical. This opposing nature is where we will find challenges during this phase. As the Sun shines its light illuminating the Moon, we are being asked to consider the polarities between the 2 signs & what that means for us individually & on a global scale. The Sun in Gemini, in opposition to the moon highlights the mental polarities of the Gemini-Sagittarius axis.
So, we now look at what we need to balance within this moon phase. Gemini prefers logic & is at home with “it is what it is”, whereas Sagittarius is more of a mover & shaker, of intuition, seeing the bigger picture & likes to expand on what is in front of us. To keep that balance means to honour both polarities or we run the risk of imbalance in our lives & this can lead to all sorts of misunderstandings, as well as a sense of nothing being quite right.
This moon is all about the issues between logic (Gemini) & belief/ intuition (Sagittarius). It is along the lines of finding those things we lack, within the sphere of travel, adventure, philosophy, learning & celebration. It’s about adventure, our viewpoint & how we communicate effectively to get to where we need to be. Sagittarius is here to jog our desires out of complacency & get us out there celebrating life.
Each sign houses its external light & internal shadow side. It’s a great idea to know what we need to look for in both signs, to recognise the energies we are exhibiting & how to find the balance we need to remain in a state of equilibrium.
Gemini higher energies incorporate a desire for knowledge about the world & its mysteries; becoming less reactive & switching off from our emotional side whilst still being in the moment; open to communicating; engaging; charming; entertaining; motivated; imaginative; generous; wise & adventurous.
In lower Gemini vibrations & shadow energies we can be more susceptible to superficiality; judgement; being ungrounded; restlessness; nervousness; overwhelm; childishness; closed minded; racing uncentered thinking; emotional unavailability; people pleasing; unintuitive; losing sight of wider perspective.
Sagittarius higher energies want us to gather Intel, intuitive hits, wider perspectives, learn & integrate; open to receiving truth; becoming trusting of life’s journeying & accepting that things work out as they are supposed to; open mind to the depth of our perception & consciousness.
Sagittarius lower vibrations or shadow can make us feel as though we are losing all faith & trust in our divine experience, physical experience; question the meaning of everything; becoming careless; over-confident; impatience; superficial; pessimistic.
There is a push-pull effect going on here. On the one hand we are faced with a light, bright, playfulness & a ‘go get it’ attitude, demonstrating a want to travel, explore & a need for freedom & a joyful life. On the other there is a keen sense of responsibility, calling us to go within & rediscover meaning & the way in which we have been living. It is time to put into practice what we know to be right for us.
The moral of this duet seems to be to find your happy & keep doing whatever it is that makes your soul sing to the drumbeat of the grandmother Drum. Self-expression in all its beauty & honesty is required! Are you ready?
Planetary influences

Full Moon Trine (beneficial, working together) Mars – This is a harmonious aspect giving us a feeling that our hard work will pay off. There is real energy & vibrancy for motivation put into our goals toward a successful outcome. This aspect can make you more attractive & entertaining which is a great combination if you are trying to win someone or a situation over.
Full Moon Square North Node – you may feel at odds with embracing something new because it may threaten your sense of security or shake you out of complacency. Take a leap of faith into the unknown for your own personal growth to continue.
