NEW MOON IN VIRGO

All Hail & Welcome to Astro: New Moon in Virgo. Time seems to pass so quickly & now as we approach this darker time of year, we are being ushered into our true callings, into a space of belonging & into finding the golden inner thread of happiness. Although there are beautiful energies calling out to us, there are also planetary influences which we need to be aware of in the cosmic playing out of all things. This Moon sees a powerful life changing pattern of planets. This Virgo moon is also known as a Black moon.

What is a black moon ?

A black moon is known as the 3rd new moon in a season of 4.

More commonly known, is a Monthly Black Moon. This is the 2nd New Moon in a single calendar month with 2 New Moons. This occurs about once every 29 months.

However, this is a Seasonal Black Moon, a 3rd New Moon in a season of 4. This phenomenon is a bit less common occurring around every 33 months. As Earth’s seasons are about three months we usually experience 3 New Moons, but sometimes a season has 4. The third New Moon is known as a Black Moon.

Now, Let us embark on our journey through this cosmic energy by beginning with what New Moon symbolises. We will then proceed to the beautifully fierce protector, Virgo, before discussing all things planetary. As our moon is the conduit through which we receive cosmic energy we will begin our journey with our beautiful celestial being.

New Moon is a time of new beginnings, projects, ideas, fertilisation, initiative & intuitive blasts. We first prepare a bed for our seeds & make it so that our seeds germinate & begin the growing process. We nurture these growing plants by watering them & paying great attention to this process, learning from it & encouraging them to grow more. In much the same way,  a New Moon is a time of new beginnings, restarts & planting seeds of hope, which we as universal beings enter into a contract with the universe to manifest. Manifestation is a reciprocal relationship we have with the universal flow of energy. As long as we work toward what we have put out there energetically, keep in mind the end result & becoming the person we need to be to receive all this energy, we will be in receipt of that goodness. New moon is a time of setting boundaries, intentions & plans for the future.

New Moon is in the sign of Virgo &  is represented by the Virgin Goddess & lets get this right, she is no mean feat! This badass Goddess is all about independence & self sufficiency. She takes care of herself & needs no other to maintain a healthy relationship with her own sacredness, self care, self love, loving relationships & relationships with finances, home & work. We have reached the organisation station of our journeying this year. For some of us this New Moon also marks a move toward the end of the year, October to December is a time full of endings & retraction to inner caves for our shadow workings & dormancy. Unfortunately, we do not exist this way in our regular society, so there is no support for those of us who do or need to, other than from Mother Earth herself & those who fervently protect her. so, we mimic her as much as possible in the letting go of our lessons by sharing our findings & releasing that which will no longer serve our journeying into the next season.

Virgo is an Earth sign, so there is a lot of ‘get yourself grounded’ energy to be immersing into. We need to go barefoot somewhere & feel the Earth energies vibrating through our feet, the Grandmother drum thumping out heart signature vibrations, sink into it, so we can feel our part in this world as we remember ourselves & flow in harmony with whichever season of life we are in. Honour the self & the Mother with purity & an open heart & begin to weave the thread of joy within. Allowing ourselves to be fully aware that we are exactly where we are supposed to be at this time will help us in the process of harmonising. The Virgin Goddess represents wholeness & so we advance on this journey to remember ourselves within this great complex of connecting threads. By honouring our sacredness, we are opening ourselves to the energy of the Virgin Goddess which we all have inside of us. Listen to our bodies, listen to the wisdom we hold within. Only we know ourselves this well.

In addition, Virgo New Moon ushers in self dependability, organisation & a welcome recharge. Virgo is all about health, well-being & systematic rearranging. Far from being stuck in a rut, we are being encouraged to get out into nature to ground & find balance for our own health & well-being. We are being kicked up the bottom to get a grip of our daily lives. Virgo wants us to have a good old clear out, physically, mentally & practically. A good home or workspace cleanse to remove all unwanted energies is called for to create space for efficiency & productivity. This process applies to our minds & bodies also. So once you have that space cleared, its time to reschedule yourself into your routine! Look for the things which do not work for you. The type of food which makes you sluggish, get rid! The lack of motivation around exercise or beginning that new workout? Schedule something new in, even if only for 5 minutes per day, as this will give you the impetus to do more & you will feel the benefit of that positive change in your life almost immediately. Warning here is to not allow Virgo’s obsessiveness to over-compensate in areas of neglect. For example, try not to allow cleaning & clearing the home or workspace to prevent you from allowing that, self love & care, routine you had in mind to timetable into your more productive days. It pays to pay attention to every area, but not at the risk of obsession. Virgo wants us to have words with ourselves about setting healthy boundaries & realistic targets. This is our Autumnal wake up call to get organised & efficient.

This is a call for a reset. Our inner selves’ growth & well-being is of the utmost importance at this point.

Ask :-

What is no longer serving my highest growth?

What can I do to practice bringing myself to a place of belonging?

How can I practice bringing myself into a space of interconnectedness?

How can I practice sacred self care, honouring the wisdom I carry within?

We must learn to talk with our mind & body, asking what it requires, what nourishes & what makes for hard processing? This can be food, exercise, self-care, clarity. Right now, learn to accept what is & that whatever is unravelling for us is for our highest well-being, a soul purpose.

This can be a very reactive time, so be mindful of knee jerk reactions.

Essentially, we are being asked to prepare ourselves for huge changes in our inner & outer lives.

Planetary influences

ree

As I mentioned, there is a really rare configuration of planets in this moon's chart, a yod.

What is a Yod?

A Yod is commonly known as 'the finger of god' or 'finger of fate'.  It points toward destiny & karma. Put simply, a yod is a triangle of planets which point toward a journey of the self & soul. The top planet represents the type of journey the traveller will take. In this case a new moon symbolises a new beginning. The base planets are the hurdles which the traveller may face along that journey. In this instance, the traveller is new moon & our hurdles are those of the planets Saturn-Neptune & Pluto.

With Sun & new Moon conjunct indicating a driving force toward a new beginning

with obstacles created on one side by Pluto, planet of change, rebirth, tough healing transformation on the other by Saturn, planet of discipline, karma & hard work; Neptune planet of illusion, delusion & sacrifice. Neptune & Saturn are conjunct, in the same sign & so are both part of this yod of destiny. The upside is, there will be a great transformation & opportunity to start anew & grow, through sacrifice & hard work we have the ability to break through old & toxic habits, by closing the doors on those unhealthy relationships which are no longer are of any help or service to our needs. It may feel as though stagnation has lifted & new opportunities have come to our attention. There may be struggles or tension, but it will lead to cool healing waters & a new outlet for us to meander into a happier, healthier lifestyle.

But wait! We have another contender who might make this journey's beginning seem difficult....

New Moon Square Uranus in Taurus - Uranus is the planet of rebelliousness, change & liberation. This is an intense square indicating much change, the unexpected, unpredictability, shocking news. It may set us off kilter for a while & it may be more difficult to see what new beginning will emerge from what is occurring. However, Uranus is in Sextile to Saturn & Neptune adding a feeling of change & liberation to that side of the yod. Perhaps this could indicate a change or upgrading to career prospects & working conditions or a bit of financial independence.

A lot to take in, so take your time & sit with what arises for you. That's all for this month's Astro New Moon article. Please join me again on or around Full Moon in Pisces 7 September 2025.

Bless you all. My gratitude for joining me on another New Moon journeying.

In Gratitude, Love, Light & All Betwixt
