Hail & welcome to Astro: New Moon article. We have a New Moon in Cancer, the cardinal sign represented by a watery crab carrying its home on its back. We are looking at a New Moon which highlights Cancer traits such as home, nurturing, mothering given & received, empathy, kindness, sympathy, patience, creativity & emotional security. The New Moon is at home in Cancer & enhances all of these along with emotion, our past & intuition. The Moon, rules Cancer, is very comfortable in this sign & this tends to be a good time emotionally. Having said that we must also take into consideration the other planetary players in the New Moon equation, which I will discuss later. For now, let’s adventure into New Moon & all it has to offer us this July.

New Moon signifies the end of the old cycle & the beginning of a new cycle of phasing. New Moon is a time for new energies & intentions. It brings with it a surge of fresh ideas & new energetic modes for us to experience. With the Sun & Moon in conjunction, in the same sign, Cancer, we can easily find balance & feel that we are ready to end old habits or ways & prepare for the new fresher ideas to flow & stimulate our senses in different ways. As New Moon’s go, we can intend to draw energies closer to us. This one is potent & extremely energetic so it’s a great time to write down intentions & think about the energies we really want in our lives.

Cancer is a cardinal sign of the watery crab. The crab carries its home on its back. It’s home surroundings are very important to Cancer. Representing the home, home security & personal comfort in addition to nurturing, offering space & service to others within that realm. This water sign encourages us to surrender to the gentleness of its ebb & flow. The most common traits of Cancer are practicality, helpfulness, patience, compassion, nurture, romance, sensitivity, creativity, home family, femininity & flow. The qualities to watch out for such as the not so good reflection of Cancer energy are gossip, isolation, uncommunicative, over sensitivity, moodiness, cliquey, passive aggression. If you experience any of these symptoms of imbalance skip the vibe by retreating & going straight to self-care, be kind to yourself & know that you are not alone. There may be need to take a long hard look into why you were feeling these vibrations.

The moon rules cancer so is very comfortable here with Cancer energies, particularly those along the more healing route. Emotional healing is on offer if we can release & let go of whatever we feel has bound us to the mundane. In this way we can experience the real magic of emotional healing. In addition, this is a good time to make a pledge to the positives of the Crab, such as honouring the darkness within, the innermost feelings; acknowledging the safety & security we have in our homes; accepting help where & when needed & offering help to others in service for a greater good; gaining emotional security from new sources rather than relying on outdated habits; beginning something new which in the long run will enhance home-life & family.

The potent energy of this Moon can have a long-lasting effect on our lives, so is a good time to make important changes which will benefit us in the long run. As Cancer is at the midpoint of the Wheel, we can find ourselves entrenched in internal justifications in any Cancerean areas which are illuminated for us at this time. We could find a sense of security by talking to someone about our present feelings. At this point of the year, it is also a good time to begin something new right from scratch, so working from inception to creation, in time for harvest & abundance within around 6-9 months. These are the points of the year in which our plans can really take root.

In addition, we are being encouraged to delve deeply with this Cancer moon. Acknowledging some of our more shadowy aspects & perhaps working to heal, take lesson & release from those illuminated problems which have come to our attention. This could be very personal, so deep inner delving will be required to ascertain the root of some problems presenting at this present moment. It’s time to face up to these issues because they no longer serve who you are becoming or supposed to be & they won’t go away if they are in our presence, making themselves known. These could be issues surrounding past pains which present in our more recent relationships as a reaction or inaction. Talk to the person who these issues are affecting the most. Be as raw & honest as you can. Sometimes talking about the reason, we are reacting or holding back can be cathartic as well as an opening to a new understanding for your relationship development.

PLANETARY INFLUENCES

There is much to discuss here. This phase is going to be emotionally triggering for some people who feel the effects of the planets in play.

New Moon conjunct Mercury RX (retrograde) – reflection on past decisions & outcomes, communication delays & revisiting past matters to amend unresolved issues. This conjunction encourages that deep delve into our emotional reactions & inactions to seek the root cause. This can be any area in life which has become stagnant or where there is chaos & misunderstandings. It encourages clear communication from a place of real emotional clarity & encourages us to decide what we desire & how we wish to continue.

Moon Square Saturn in Aries – Saturn brings us challenges & with a hard aspect brings even more difficulty for us to work through these challenges. Keep in mind that these are challenges that we need to work through for our personal growth & wisdom. This is very much an emotion versus self-control situation. This aspect gives us the opportunity we need to overcome negativity, highlighting an area in which we expect things to go wrong or out of our control. This negative notion needs to be addressed, by recognising, accepting & learning the lessons it gives us, so that we can move on to a more positive mindset.  Another highlighted area will be where we will need help from external sources, the ability to recognise we need help & to ask for it. Self-belief & independence are also illuminated. A passion to achieve this level of self- awareness runs throughout this aspect.

What's coming through for me is compassion, relationships, creativity, intimacy & forgiveness. A lot highlighting becoming master of our past emotions & trusting intuition to understand ourselves in a manner in which we can discuss reactions or inaction to those we love. In addition, there seems to be a lot of initiation around conflict resolution after having seen the truth of a matter with an inevitable deep dive into our past emotional issues. These are my thoughts. There is a real sense of change in the air & it’s up to us individually to create a change which benefits us & those whom we surround ourselves with.
