All Hail & welcome to Astro: New Moon in Libra. We have a wonderfully sweet energy around us at this moment in time, after Equinox harvest as we enter into the darker months & the deeper recesses of ourselves & our relationships with others in our lives.  To each of us personally this can be an easy or tough time as we dig deep into our hidden energies, emotions and fears. We can call on our benevolent ancestors & guides right now & we will be surrounded by love & the incessant energy to push through the mists of time, false veils of lies & deceit in our lives. This New Moon is the halfway mark of the astrological year & is the shift in our energies. It can be a stressful time, upsetting or out of sorts energies. Know that the universe provides all we need when we need it. Focus is on finding balance & being open to gently extend harmonies which allow us to vibrate along the same lines as our truest self. This New Moon is accompanied by a Yod, commonly known as the finger of god/fate. This configuration of planets presents to us our mission in life & the obstacles we will be facing. We have already experienced 1 Yod in a similar configuration this year during the new moon phase of August’s Virgo new moon. This time the Moon & Sun are in Libra rather than Virgo. We will discuss this later in the article.

The New Moon is a time of balance, when we have reached the end of one 28 day cycle & begin another cycle of moon phasing. The new moon in astronomical terms is when there is no moon & the skies are dark. In astrological terms, this moon is the dark, balsamic moon, where we rest or release & banish the final purge of unwanted, dysfunctional, outdated & unproductive from our lives in order to make space for the new, seeds of hopes & desires. The exciting intentions we have in store for ourselves are planted at new moon when the sliver of silver is in the sky and the light of the moon is returning from the darkness. In order to make space for the new we must first cleanse & release old, outdated functionalities. This can sometimes come in the form of emotional traumas, relationships, careers, ways of thinking & being, need to be detached from us to enable the space we need for something good, new & exciting. It’s a bit like an upgrade, out with the old & in with the new!

New Moon is a time of transitioning from the wisdom of the crone to the maiden’s winter-spring.

The Sun & Moon are conjunct (in the same sign) in Libra.

The Sun represents the now, our identification, that bit of ourselves which we show the world, our consciousness, self esteem, ego & expression, our present.

The Moon is our emotions, intuition, unconscious, inner personality, feelings, nurturing & our past.

Libra is the sign of the scales of justice, with balance a key factor. Ruled by Venus, beauty, love, creativity & money. This cardinal Air sign gets actions moving, concerning relationships, business contracts & marriage. This is a good time to commit to personal goals & find the negotiator within to bring our relationships into balance. We are being encouraged to think creatively recalibrating our relationships in such a way that our partners are once again our allies, we’ll be given chances to make those all-important life changes as a team. Libra shows us to make peace & create equilibrious environments in which we can value what we have in our lives & loves. A reminder that our relationship to home also needs to be recalibrated to encourage equilibrium. Maybe that Autumn clear out can help any feelings of stagnation & could possibly help as a side-line to create more financial flow into life, a very Venus & Libra point. One person’s clear out can address another person’s need & want for a better environment.

Our feelings will be very intense. We can mimic the mother Earth at this time of year, putting on a show of colour & extravagant movement to obtain a deeper soul depth & understanding of ourselves & those we share our lives with. We may find ourselves enjoying company more, negotiating with friends or professionals for career development & future social activity; we may plan new adventures, gain innovative perspectives, find a new creative outlet, share work & knowledge, find excitement & new experiences.

However, we may feel the pull of reflection. Some pain may arise, tiredness may affect us adding to any uncertainty or confusion present. This moon will highlight areas which are out of balance & those areas we have had no time to attend to. It will reveal where and to whom we have been giving ourselves, possibly to our detriment, and will bring us back in line with ourselves. The Libran New Moon is very special in that it will bring us back to a place of self & show us a new way of being which is more beneficial. This is a time to step away from the blame game and aside from feelings of guilt, shame, inadequacy & focus on giving back to yourself & the community. A vessel half full cannot overflow to another. Only one which is full to the brim can give unconditionally of itself. A reminder to book annual check ups as a self-care priority.

Themes to consider for this phase & the next 2 weeks, until Full moon, are our relationship with; our sovereign self; nature, community; others regarding relationships or connections; business & current events; our surroundings & self-belief. There may be some internal conflict arise, but harnessed correctly can open doors for our growth.

The key is balance.

Relationship issues are a big theme this new moon & will continue to be ,over the next few weeks. Things may come to a point which will need patience, understanding & reflection in answer to what occurs.

With Libra ruled by Venus, this highlights the physical, sexual & loving relationships we are part of & how we can traverse heated waters by being present.  Libra wants balance & this also indicates the flow of reciprocity in our lives & relationships. This New Moon in Libra wants for us to find balance within our relationships, in how we give, receive, how we collaborate & what we have learned thus far. We are being asked to re-evaluate all relationships. Libra season, Equinox & Samhain are rewarding times to work in the area of connections. Relationships often form our greatest life teachings in which we learn, comprehend & grow.

Ask yourself:

Do I act differently around certain people?

Do I like who I am when we are in their company?

Which relationships bring out my best & which the worst in me?

Which relationships keep me moving in the direction of growth & which trigger me into old patterns of thinking & acting?

Which relationships remind me of fun?

Which relationships are hard work & often one sided?

As this is new Moon, we could be setting our intentions to embrace new connections, create equilibrium in our present relationships. It is a good time to hear someone out, by listening & not judging to those who may have experiences which have differed from our own. We can set personal & relationship boundaries. We can also give ourselves permission to be confident in our collaborative endeavours. In addition, we are being asked to show patience & use the knowledge that we are made of precious energetic resources. We must think about where we are placing that energy & what it does to us. Know that we always have a choice in that which we choose to shine & dazzle. It’s time to simplify the way in which we think!

How is my energy used to its greatest potential?

Where is my energy at its best?

How & where am I of greatest service?

Know your worth! Know that your energy is a precious commodity to which not everyone is entitled to. Remember if you are feeling out of sorts, self-care is your friend. In fact, we are being encouraged to prioritize self-care, health & well-being. Time to find balance within ourselves & our closest relationships. Remember peace & harmony are our goals, whilst balance is the key.

Planetary influences

As mentioned, we are going to experience a Yod / Finger of God/ Fate. Planets involved & their actions are given below.

A Yod is in the shape of an Isosceles triangle, the base of which is created by planets which will act as our challenges. The apex is our mission.

At the apex, we have Sun & Moon conjunct (New Moon) in Libra which creates a harmonious inner & outer world, balance being the key. New intentions, fresh energy, creativity, finances, self-care, closest relationships are all highlighted.

At the base, we have Saturn & Neptune conjunct in Pisces which gives us structure, limitation, illusion & imagination, with added flow.

In addition, we have Uranus retrograde in Gemini, in its own sign gives us quick wit, intellect, communication & learning as well as our own environment. Due to the Planets retrograde we may feel a little frustration at the slower energies, leading to impatience & restlessness. This is a 2^nd call to give ourselves the grace we need to make all important life decisions by being informed.

The base signs will work together well. However they cause any challenges we may face over the coming period. I almost feel as though this is a ‘get your house in order’ kind of collaboration of planets. Something big is coming & we need to be ready to claim our place within the sphere in which we have been working. There could be a surprise or 2 but these could be part of an illusion we have created ourselves, so head up & move out of the way. We have been viewing the world this way for too long & now is time to wake up to what is happening in front of us, the bigger picture. There is something big to be learned here & it is in our endurance & patience we will find ourselves managing these situations with great care. Our work will allow us liberation to get to where we are going & with that is a wealth of transformative energies to be had. Communication & how we talk & think are highlighted. Evolution of the soul. It creates something new from our release of the old & toxic. Smarter decisions & actions will aid us in making those changes a more permanent fixture in our lives. Introspection to innovation. With the Libra Moon having the ability to unite opposites, this could be a great time to harness this power to make a difference to life.

New Moon Square Jupiter of expansion. Time to become aware of exaggerations, over indulgences & risk taking.

New Moon Square Pluto of transformation. Keep an eye on excesses & toxic behaviours, power struggles & obsession. Eradicate them with knowledge, kindness & logic.

Small steps lead to great changes. Take time in reasoning challenges & difficulties which arise.
