Astro: Full Beaver Moon in Gemini, Penumbral Lunar Eclipse

Astro: Full Moon in Gemini November 30 2020 @ 9:29 UTC

All hail & welcome to November’s edition of Astro: Full Moon in Gemini. This Full moon is also a penumbral lunar eclipse which is set to be a powerful amplifier to our cosmic astrology this month. As ever, I shall discuss the international phenomenon of naming the full moon phases, I shall present you with a non-bias list of spiritual & religious events & observances, discuss the astrological influences of this full moon further & list astronomical events for the next few weeks. Firstly let me explain, a penumbral lunar eclipse is when the moon passes through the outer edge, penumbra of the Earth’s shadow, thus darkening but not completely obscuring viewing. Its a very mystical time and also extremely revealing. So lets continue our journeying with the moon….

Naming the moon

The moon has entranced humankind since time immemorial. The appearance of the moon through the phases has intrigued many civilizations across the globe. Many peoples have used the moon phases as a guide on how and when to seed, rest and harvest plants, which a have been mainly used in agriculture. Each geographical area has differing climates, therefore naming the full phase moon is often onomastic to crops which are in flower or ready to harvest. With this in mind we discover the differences. The Native American names for the November moon are frosty Moon, Beaver Moon, Dark Moon, Tree Moon and Snow Moon, much like the Montana tribes who named it the Frost Moon. In addition, the North Canadian Inuit peoples named this moon the Freezing Mist Moon, brrrr!. All of these names are tangible given this time of year is often a time of the first frosts we see. The Chinese people call this the White Moon. In India the calendar is solar/ lunar therefore we are in the month of Kartika in which the observations of Kartik & Tripurari Purnima are witnessed and attended. The Ogham month is Elder 24/11 - 23/12. Elder is seen as a time of endings & much like the Elder tree which can regenerate itself from being devastated, it is also a symbol of renewal. Working with creativity, renewal, this is a time of recognising the cyclical nature of us, birth, death & renewal. The British medieval Celtic names for the November moon are Mourning Moon and Darkest Depths Moon. They indicate that we are in the month in which deep transformations begin to take place, in which we delve deep into soul work and face our shadow selves. Working together to tend to ourselves and allowing ourselves to feel out old hurts, states of mind, habits and emotions in an attempt to release and make space for that which is to come.

Astrology:

A quick advice note: Astrology is a general guide to helping us to understand the movement of the universe in our lives and how this can affect us on an annual, bi-annual, bi-monthly, monthly or daily basis. As a rule of thumb it is a general guide and not specific to all. Our experience of the cosmos, movements, conjunctions, full moons, zodiac signs are all individual. Why is that? Well, When you are born, the stars are aligned in such a way that they will not be realigned again in exactly the same way for at least another 26,000 years!! I know its incredible right? This means that only someone born on the same day or time as you will have similar experiences to how you perceive the universe and how it effects you. In addition, only the outer planets of our solar system have an effect on whole generations, as it takes them a lot longer to move through the zodiac and thus they generate energies for whole groups of people born with them in the same house of their natal charts. We truly are unique in our experience of the cosmos. Doesn’t that just blow your mind?

With this in mind lets have a good look at the full moon penumbral lunar eclipse and what all of this technicality means.

The full moon represents our inner personality, our feelings, thoughts, unconsciousness, instincts. It can also illuminate past feelings, experiences, traumas and bring them to the surface at certain times to be worked through and released. The moon is where you feel deeply. This Full moon is in Gemini, so relationships, communication, money & the mind are involved. Gemini is an air sign, so inspiration, ideas come to us but our monkey mind is on full alert. Its time to balance our way of thinking rather than allowing monkey mind to play games with over-thinking & exaggerating things which may not need these actions to bring them into the spotlight. Pay attention to emotional outbursts. Drama’s can be a necessity, but try not to ‘jump the gun’, rather to think before we open our mouths. It is a good time to verse aloud some of our more thought out ideas.

A penumbral lunar eclipse is when the moon passes through the outer edge, penumbra of the Earth’s shadow, thus darkening but not completely obscuring viewing. The effect this can have on us humans is truly amazing. A lunar eclipse is full of ,magick & mystery, revealing the truth about ourselves & our purpose. It encourages us to look at our lives and the consequences of our actions. In addition a lunar eclipse can force us to release something we’ve been holding onto which we are not ready to release. Think of it like an amplifier of whatever the moon is offering us this full phase & as I have mentioned, full phase is an amplifier of emotions and inner workings anyway, so this is set to be quite an emotionally turbulent lunar eclipse. You may ask questions about your purpose in this life, what is reality and what is shadow? How to allow shadow to enable the soul work that needs to be done? Which is the best action to take to get to where you want to be in life? Whatever it is that arises at this time, whether it is old past hurts from previous relationships, childhood traumas, or something more immediate, you must allow yourself to feel them. Your working with and not against these issues will give you wisdom and emotional freedom. By accepting them for what they are, you are allowing wisdom and emotional freedom to flow into your life. This will help you to release with ease and acceptance in your heart, mind & soul. Take heart, this eclipse is going to shift your alignment into your truest path. Facing issues and asking questions such as these will allow you to flow with the universal alignment occurring. Recognise flaws or lacks, attitudes & expressions as these are areas which will need to be worked on in this time of shadow.

In addition, November is a time of honouring the dark goddesses, the divine feminine within all of us, as we retreat into our personal caves to work with our shadow selves, our guilts, sadness, old hurts, prophetic dreams, what has not worked so well this year, in order for us to reveal our true selves and work with our darker natures. We will be dealing with healing, cyclical resonance, recognition of repeated actions, outdated patterns which no longer serve but which we hold on to. We will be regenerating so that we may emerge victorious over our fears & hiccups. This is our time to be creative & delve, finding our personal inner strength & passions so that when the time is right we may burst forth into a new space, that which we have created through this work. Know that we can rise above anything that is placed before us. Whatever emerges from this lunar eclipse know that we can seek & find balance & understanding. We must allow any emotions which emerge, liberate ourselves & be free from what binds us, our old patterns, ways of thinking, hurts. Let them out , honour them by allowing them space. Allowing ourselves to feel, really feel from our deepest depths. Self care plays a huge role in allowing ourselves to be. This is what is being asked of us. To find our beingness, aside from being human which we do every day, we also need time to be, present, individual, alone, in a group virtually or whatever we can achieve. We go to nature to nurture & this is sound advice right now. Get out into nature. I know for some of us that means getting cold & wet, but so what! Feeling is what makes us human, allowing ourselves is part of our beingness.

Remember that you are a spark of the divine. You can claim your sovereignty & empower yourself in doing so. Pay attention to the thoughts & emotions of your present self. Self acceptance & love is the pathway to authenticity. The difficulty at this time is knowing your own mind in the midst of bewilderment & mixed messages. Finding your true voice & remaining with it is imperative. It is important for us to release our fears & anxieties which only serve to repress us.
