Astro: Full Beaver Moon Partial Lunar Eclipse in Earthy Taurus

Astro: Full Beaver Moon Partial Lunar eclipse in Taurus

Full Phase occurs 8:57 UTC

All hail & welcome to November’s edition of Astro: Full Beaver Moon Partial Lunar eclipse in Taurus. This Full moon is also partial lunar eclipse which is set to be a powerful amplifier to our cosmic astrology this month. As ever, I shall discuss the international phenomenon of naming the full moon phases, I shall present you with links to sites providing you with non-bias list of spiritual & religious events & observances, discuss the astrological influences of this full moon further & list astronomical events for the next few weeks. Firstly let me explain, a partial lunar eclipse is when the moon passes through the Umbra, Earth’s shadow, thus darkening but not completely obscuring viewing, in this case passing through the darkest part of the umbra & almost total eclipse. This eclipse is expected to be the longest eclipse in over 100 years. Its a very mystical time and also extremely revealing. So lets continue our journeying with the moon….

Naming the Moon

The moon has entranced humankind since time immemorial. The appearance of the moon through the phases has intrigued many civilizations across the globe. Many peoples have used the moon phases as a guide on how and when to seed, rest and harvest plants, which a have been mainly used in agriculture. Each geographical area has differing climates, therefore naming the full phase moon is often onomastic to crops which are in flower or ready to harvest. With this in mind we discover the differences. The Native American names for the November moon are frosty Moon, Beaver Moon, Dark Moon, Tree Moon and Snow Moon, much like the Montana tribes who named it the Frost Moon. In addition, the North Canadian Inuit peoples named this moon the Freezing Mist Moon, brrrr!. All of these names are tangible given this time of year is often a time of the first frosts we see. Chinese folk call this the White Moon. In India the calendar is solar/ lunar therefore we are in the month of Kartika in which the observations of Kartik & Tripurari Purnima are witnessed and attended. The Ogham month is Elder 24/11 - 23/12. Elder is seen as a time of endings & much like the Elder tree which can regenerate itself from being devastated, it is also a symbol of renewal. Working with creativity, renewal, this is a time of recognising the cyclical nature of us, birth, death & renewal. The British medieval Celtic names for the November moon are Mourning Moon and Darkest Depths Moon. They indicate that we are in the month in which deep transformations begin to take place, in which we delve deep into soul work and face our shadow selves. Working together to tend to ourselves and allowing ourselves to feel out old hurts, states of mind, habits and emotions in an attempt to release and make space for that which is to come.

Astrology

A quick advice note: Astrology is a general guide to helping us to understand the movement of the universe in our lives and how this can affect us on an annual, bi-annual, bi-monthly, monthly or daily basis. As a rule of thumb it is a general guide and not specific to all. Our experience of the cosmos, movements, conjunctions, full moons, zodiac signs are all individual. Why is that? Well, When you are born, the stars are aligned in such a way that they will not be realigned again in exactly the same way for at least another 26,000 years!! I know its incredible right? This means that only someone born on the same day or time as you will have similar experiences to how you perceive the universe and how it effects you. In addition, only the outer planets of our solar system have an effect on whole generations, as it takes them a lot longer to move through the zodiac and thus they generate energies for whole groups of people born with them in the same house of their natal charts. We truly are unique in our experience of the cosmos. Doesn’t that just blow your mind?

Sun in Scorpio: The Sun represents our ego, outer personality traits, our here & now & our confidence. When the Sun shines through watery Scorpio we are opened to deep intuition, transformation, focus, balance & intense passion, independence & honesty. The Sun in Scorpio has the motto “I desire”. It is the sign of intensity, awareness, togetherness & attachment. Scorpio is represented by the Scorpion who sheds its skin to transform, the Eagle who sees from great heights, in addition to the Phoenix which rises from the ashes; All are connected to phases of consciousness, all having the ability to rebirth themselves, no matter what has previously occurred. Keep this in mind as we traverse this long eclipse. Each sign has a lesson for us to learn. Scorpio involves discovering the depth of our own mysteries, rather than remaining complacent. In addition Scorpio brings metamorphoses which we as individuals & as society experience. Change is what shapes us & makes us grow into who we are supposed to be.

November is a time of recalibrating our hearts to that of the Mother Earth. Our inner drumbeat matching that of the Grandmother Drum. Encouraging BE-ing in nature, embracing all that creates awakenings & allowing ourselves sacred space to work with the Moon energies & our deepest feelings.

Full moon is a time of fruition & looking forward reaping the rewards of our desires & hard work toward long term goals. It is a time of abundance, romance, heightened emotions & intuition. The light of this full moon is reflected through the zodiac sign of the bull.

Full Moon in Taurus: The moon represents our inner personality, feelings emotions, intuition & past. This moon is in the sign of Taurus, an earthy, steady sign which wants to slow the pace down a bit. Earthy Taurus has a steady plod to the hoof, dependable, secure, grounded, reliable & generous. In addition, Taurus can bring out stubbornness, self indulgence, laziness & materialism. A Taurus moon brings out the need for safety, security & stability. It reminds us of our need for self love & care. Venus governs this zodiac sign with harmonious, loving vibrations. Venus is also predominant over this partial lunar eclipse.

Our balance will need to encompass a closer look into our needs, lacks & wants. Balance must incorporate the conflicts between Earthy, practical, generous, peace-loving moon in Taurus, who wants nothing more than emotional fulfilment & simple pleasures in life versus transformative, crisis oriented, emotional Scorpio, who will amplify complications, mysteries & the want to understand ourselves on a deeper level.

This eclipse is about awakening to our own desires & finding connection to our own wants & cares. We will find that when we are at this place within, this feeling of emancipation & self care energy will then happily spill out to others.

Partial Lunar Eclipse: a partial lunar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes through the earth’s umbra (shadow). This movement causes the moon to block out some or in this case most of the Sun’s reflective rays, leaving only little light. Thus creating a lunar eclipse. Lunar eclipse is a massive amplifier of Lunar energies. This eclipse is the first of the season along the Taurus- Scorpio axis. It will be the kick start to make changes for the better in the areas of life highlighted by Taurus & Scorpio. Themes we pick up here are going to prevail throughout the eclipse season. As this is an individual reaction, keep your eye on what at comes up or is prevalent for you at this time.

Effects of this eclipse, as any astrological interpretation are very unique to each of us. Change is on the menu! These can be fast & furious or slow & methodical changes occurring. This eclipse is going to begin a chain of events which act as a catalyst of changes. With Eclipse in Taurus opposite Sun in Scorpio, we have a hugely creative & sensual eclipse which is full of possibilities, experiences & lessons. We will find we are drawn to sensuality of relationships, personal comfort & values. Relationships will be challenged, some won’t make it through, others will become stronger, we may even find that our standards lower, so be aware. Everything seems to be blown out of proportion during this time. Revelations will occur as we become aware of where we lack in life. All may feel chaotic, however this is a catalyst to change the way we look at ourselves, our lives & it will push us toward positive action & the change we need to make.

Planetary aspects influencing the Full moon.

Sun opposite moon bringing the light of both signs to a degree of discord. Finding balance is key to honouring both energies to avoid conflict or discontent. Challenge v harmony, adapting for knowledge all play a part here where movement to evolve is indicated.

Moon square Jupiter: There is hope & eagerness. However, there may also be huge emotional outbursts which could cause disharmony, lack of moderation & irresponsible behaviour. Some of us may experience greed in ourselves or others which will lead to disappointment. Moods & developing taste may cause relationship difficulties. Lowering of standards may bring with it embarrassment & disharmony. Keeping a responsible attitude, generosity & charity will help us to move passed this & grow materially & spiritually.

Moon Trine Pluto : a Trine is a favourable aspect where there is synchronicity between the celestial bodies. Our perception, intuition & emotions are already peaking at Full Moon, however, this little ditty is going to amplify all of these so that we don’t just experience but really feel, very strongly . Here, we are being urged to transform ourselves on a subconscious level so that with Jupiter we can expand our potential. This aspect works well with Scorpio Sun, a more thorough investigation into our deeper recesses of the mind will aid with what is to come. We may even be able to help other’s with this deep dive.

Square: Sun, Moon, Jupiter, Pluto. A square is a hard aspect causing tension between the connected planets. However, this aspect also indicates action if we have balance, or stress if we don’t. So it is imperative to investigate the Taurus-Scorpio axis, all that is prevalent to us at this time, to find balance so that this square has a more positive affect. This combination can offer stability & balance. We may feel the safety we need to be feeling. We may experience sensitivities, tension & conflict. Our ability to learn enables us movement & this is a catalyst to understanding situations. Through learning & satisfaction, giving & taking , our newly learned coping mechanisms will go into action straight away & will benefit us in the future.

Double star Algol. I don’t usually discuss stars but this one is already playing out in our cosmic arena, so its definitely worth the mention. Algol is at the head of the constellation of the Gorgon Medusa & is seen as the most nefarious star in our skies, put into motion by meteorological events such as eclipse. It carries the malefic aspects of Jupiter & Pluto. However, it does also have a brighter side. It all depends on how we live our lives! If we live by honest means & have ideals which we live to rather than contradict , we will be less affected. The negative however can effect huge groups of people, so this may affect wider communities or the collective. Extremism, brutality, misfortune, mob-violence, sickness & death are all earmarked. This double star also associates with genetics, mutation & evolution.
