Hello Beautiful souls. All hail & Welcome back for another Astro Full Moon article. Our beautiful celestial satellite will be going into full phase at 17:47 UTC on March 9th 2020. Can you feel the pull of the moon? Are you experiencing unexplainable instances and synchronicties at this time of the month? You are not alone! The moon has an influence on many of us today which can seem a little unexplainable or mysterious. She has always had an effect on our beloved mother Earth and all sentient beings feel the gravitational energies from both, even if you didn’t know it, you are a child of the universe, made from stardust and galactic energies. These energies interlink with all that surrounds us. We are influenced by the universal flow of energies and the movements of planets and constellations. Some might call this the Force!

Naming the Moon

Ancient people all over the world have named this phase of our moon. Many names are a reflection of what is happening agriculturally or from a hunter gatherer perspective as well as from the forces of nature that preside over us everyday. The Native American’s named the March full moon as , Sap Moon, Worm Moon, Moon of Winds, Fish Moon, Chaste Moon or Death Moon. Montana tribes called this moon Sore Eye Moon. The Inuit peoples of Northern Canada named this moon Snow Bird Moon. The Chinese peoples know this moon as Sleeping Moon. Celtic Medieval British names for the March full moon are Plough Moon, Wind Moon, Linten (lengthening) Moon. The Ogham tree month carries across the month so we are now in the month of Ash (Feb 18th - March 17th), when we will enter the month of Alder (March 18th - April 14th). The cosmic tree, Yggdrasil was known to be the Ash. The Ash links the world of men & realms of spirit and myth, and conveyed understanding of the interconnection of all things. Two springs flow from its roots, sources of Wisdom and of Fate. Ash teaches that all life is interconnected on all levels of existence - past, present and future, spiritual, mental and physical:

As above so below, as within so without, as the universe so the soul.

(Hermes Trismegistus, The Emerald Tablet)

Alder covers the time of Spring Equinox and produces roots into the water of riverbanks, thus holding sacred space between the worlds of heaven and earth. It is sacred to Bran who laid himself down, as a bridge, for his men, to cross the sea. In addition the Coligny calendar informs us that this is Ogronios, Ice Time.

The Hindu calendar is lunar in nature and this month of Phalgun marks the celebrations of Holi Purnima and Phalgun Purnima. Holi is the festival of colours, celebrating fertility and good harvest. Furthermore, there are many stories surrounding the origins of this vibrant festival. Legend has it that King Hairanyakashyap demanded that the people of his kingdom worship him. However, his son, Prahlad was a devotee of Lord Vishhnu, and as such offended his father by his behaviour. The king attempted on 7 occasions to have his son killed. His failed attempts prompted him to call for his sister Holika, who was immune to fire, to sit with Prahlad in a bonfire in order to burn him. Ironically Holika was burned and Prahlad walked out of the fire unscathed by the event. Therefore, Holi is seen as a victory of good over evil. In addition, Holi is also associated with the playfulness of Radha- Krishna. Legend tells us that Krishna shot an arrow of love at Kaamdeva, to bring him out of eternal meditation. Kaamdeva was turned to ashes. This festival celebrates the sacrifice made by Kaamdeva. Holi is also pledge day, where one accepts ones own shortcomings and weaknesses, taking stock of mistakes and pledging not to repeat them. Holi is about ridding the self and life of negativity. Detoxification is the theme that runs parallel with this month’s full moon astrology, which you can read all about in the next section of the article. To round up this section, here are this month’s special dates of observation or spiritual significance:-

So without further ado let me explain what the celestial movements at this time mean to those of you who are affected by them.

A full moon means that the Sun and Moon are opposite each other and sit in opposite signs of the Zodiac.

When the Sun and moon are opposite each other during the full moon phase there can be a lot of stresses and strained emotions and at the same time amplified potential and vision. So a lot of positives and negatives jumbled into the same energy.

Supermoon is when the Moon is at its closest approach to Earth, which makes it look much bigger than normal. This is known as Moon at Perigee. This is a time of hugely amplified energies, so watch your emotions and keep your temper in check, especially around those who are unaware that they are being affected and reacting to this energy.

The moon represents our Yin, emotions, desires, fears, worries and dreams, our unconscious beliefs, feelings of security, the past, our feminine archetype, which both men and women have

and our darker side. Moon energy offers us the power to learn from the past and to nurture our creative selves. When the moon is full its energy is impacted by the transiting zodiac, which amplifies and heightens emotions, dreams and intuition.

This months Full moon is in Earthy Virgo, who lends a good helping of organisation, practicality and resourcefulness. This sign will bring into focus service to others and highlight areas of your life which need working on or detoxifying. Altogether a positive energy to this phase, however there is some potential for challenges, so remain aware.

The Sun represents the now, our identity, ego, personality, yang energy. It offers strength, courage and the ability to present ourselves how we want to be seen, by utilising the aspects of the sign it is in. The Sign of watery Pisces coupled with Virgo brings about some methodology to your life, with added sprinkles of creativity and intuition. There is clarity on offer this month so see what comes up and what needs your attention, as this will give you a clues to a personal theme over the next few months.

Pay attention to your relationships with others, partners, finances, health, visions of the future, food issues, spirituality, oh the list can go on! Virgo is on hand to bring you on point to anything which now raises its hand for attention. Virgo’s detail oriented organisational skills and perfectionism's will do a fabulous job on what is in need of your attention. Full moon is also connected to the intentions you set at new moon on 23rd February, so whatever you are celebrating the fruition of or taking lessons learned from, Virgo’s quick instinct is on hand to pick it up and make perfect sense out of it, Whilst Pisces will help you dream that dream further.

Full moon is a time of releasing all that no longer serves you. As we enter Springtime full of the energy of the unfurling leaves and buds, we undertake or imagine ourselves doing all the things that we set aside for the darker Winter months. To activate ourselves to do this and enter into the new season, there are things we need to rid ourselves of. Whether that be a state of mind, a person, a personal long standing issue, past hurts which are ready to be released, it is time to gather yourself for a good emotional, spiritual, physical detoxification to ready yourself for the new zodiac rotation, which begins with our move into Aries on March 21st and Spring Equinox on 20th -21st. Time to get ready to celebrate the lighter & brighter side of the year. Time to move that body and mirror the Mother Earth and surge forth to this renewed energy awaiting us.

Finally, I did mention that there could be challenges this phase and possibly into the next two weeks of moon cycling. This would be the Full moon opposite Neptune aspect, bringing about confusion, deception and ill health. On the other hand we have the positive influence of Jupiter Trine the Moon which will help us overcome these challenges, so its not all bad if you can tap into the energies on offer eh? In all, this is a great moon for overcoming fears and weaknesses, for forgiving yourself and others by showing generosity and kindness. This in turn helps you to grow morally, spiritually and ethically and leads you to your truth & fulfilment in life.
