Astro: New Moon in Aquarius February 2022

All Hail & welcome to January’s New Moon article. There is such a lot still going on astrologically. We have a New Moon in Aquarius conjunct Sun in Aquarius, Saturn also at home in Aquarius, a hard aspect New Moon to Uranus which is also Trine Venus, and of course Mercury is still retrograde! A lot to consider & a variety of energies which could make for an easy ride or quite the opposite, all depending on our unique reciprocation & reaction. The universe has a sense of humour!
I would like to begin discussing the ingredients of our mixture before meandering into an astrological interpretation.
New Moon
New Moon sets the scene for new intentions, planting seeds of hope which gestate alongside the moon’s cycle. We begin at new moon with preparing the ground for seed planting, the setting of new intentions or ideas you wish to work with and bring to fruition. These seeds carry with them your hopes which when planted will gestate in synchronicity with the moons phases. A maiden’s Winter into Spring, generating new ideas & projects, new beginnings to our internal & external world. New Moon is an exciting time for new beginnings which is accompanied by a sense of childlike excitement, an enthusiastic burst of energy which allows us work fast & furiously toward our goals. Always be mindful of self care & potential burnout. This is the phase where we will generate our ideas and plan projects. We may feel the need to soul search in order to discover personal truths. Whatever our wants and wishes for our month or the year ahead, this is the time to be setting and planting our seeds of hope. Be assertive, be adventurous and be curious about intentions. This is the beginning of a year of manifestation, where you step into your manifesting self and remain positive about your vision. This month our new moon goes hand in hand with airy Aquarius, so our hopes may also be carried on the winds of change…

Aquarius
Aquarius is an Air sign of revolution and humanitarianism. There is a theme of thinking outside of the box and standing up to be counted. Progressive ideas, intellect and the want to be of service for the greater good are being encouraged. New beginnings, exciting plans, planning adventure, deep soul searching and discovering your truths are also relevant at the time of Aquarian energies. As Aquarius is also the first sign in a new year (according to Gregorian calendar), it is also a good time to really finalise your annual intentions. Try to avoid the negatives of Aquarius, extremism, poor temperament and aloofness. These attitudes could get you in troublesome situations. In keeping with the Aquarian energies allows a broader image, the big picture which Aquarius is encouraging us to look at in more detail, with an open mind.
Aquarius is ruled by both Saturn the taskmaster of the zodiac whom wants us to learn through lessons & hard work toward goals & Uranus the planet of awakening who wishes for us to re-evaluate our behaviours & beliefs in order to progress toward our truest self & reality. Both planets will play part in this New Moon in Aquarius.
Let us discuss this New Moon in Aquarius….
New Moon is a time of setting intentions, for the month or year ahead. As we are closing one Zodiac wheel & approaching the beginning of another, we may find ourselves in a state of mental & physical exhaustion. We maybe requiring rest and the need to focus on ourselves a little more. Self care, forgiveness & clearing out old resentments are all on the cards. It is most important for us to concentrate these areas each month if we can as it helps us to formulate & grow. New Moon Aquarius is time for the logical mind. For us to come away from emotionally led actions, closing the mind chatter & allowing our thoughts to drift into the positives & to what makes us feel good. Aquarius wants us to have a good clear out of home, self & life in general. If we can think with an open mind we will see the full illumination of areas in which we need to pay particular attention. We may find that we are clearing our minds in order to focus on our environments. We may be in process of acknowledging that keeping our distance from habits & past connections will help us to break away from our personal destructive behaviours & unhealthy coping mechanisms, in order for us to positively move forward. We may find that by reaching out into community, we find new groups, experiences & friendships which enrich our lives. The potent Aquarius energies offer us an opportunity for long term positive progression & creativity. Some will need to pay more attention to these areas than others.
Find a silence away from the endless chit chat of the mind & allow focus to go beyond the expected’s & ought to’s. Ask yourself:
What is my vision for the coming year?
How can I allow myself to see things from a newer / different perspective?
What are my self limiting thoughts/ behaviours?
How & What can I change in order to make progress in clearing the way toward new opportunities?
So, we prepare the soil for another planting session. We have learned by our mistakes & what didn’t work is now being eliminated, if it has not been already. We are on the verge of planting seeds for a future we can see is far better than the one in which we find ourselves. Its all for the betterment of us or our surroundings. We are co-creating a vision & setting an intention to get to the end we have envisaged. We are readying for the resurgence, as Mother Earth, we have been in a moment of deep healing & learning, recognising & reconnecting to our inner well of being. It is almost time time to bounce back with deeper meaning & huge potentiality, a great energy that is getting ready to burst forth with the buds & blooms of springtime is bubbling up inside of us. It may not feel that way, but be assured, that over this past season, the energy has been becoming. Remember, not all blooms appear at the same time, so although you may witness some people surging forth with their ideas & new projects, this does not mean that you have to rush yourself, rather feel into whatever is waiting to be birthed & go with that inner flow of your own resurging energy. There is no need to compete. Every blossom has its moment & it will bloom no matter the competition.
The snowdrop is often the first flower to reach up from the cold, dark toward the warmth of the Sun. As it is traditionally emblematic of Imbolc, it offers us a sense of hope.
In good practice as always, we do have to consider the relationship this New Moon has with other planetary influences. As I have mentioned Saturn & Uranus are playing their part. In addition, we have Venus involved, which may be the balancer of what we may be encountering at present. Furthermore, we also need to pay attention to the path of Mercury retrograde, which lasts until 3rd February.
New Moon conjunct Sun, both in Aquarius - end of one lunar cycle & the beginning of a brand new one. Equilibrium of outer & inner personal qualities. Fresh starts, new projects are favoured. Question old habits, behaviours & beliefs in order to search for new ways to progress.
New Moon square Uranus - hard aspect, tension between the celestial bodies involved. Uranus can bring tension, conflict or crisis due to unexpected change. We may feel anxious, unsettled, impulsive, unreliable to a point of protestation. We may feel restricted in our personal freedom. In addition, we may have a very strong urge to explode with emotion or self expression. Be aware of conflicting interests & others beliefs.
Remain open minded & inventive. Being original could open up opportunities you least expect.
Venus Trine Uranus - harmonious aspect involving synchronisation of 2 or 3 celestial bodies. Venus brings in the change & adds to the excitement of love relationships. Pleasure, excitement, new experiences are all favoured. Financial surprise is possible. Venus is offering a way in which we can find resolution & a brighter outlook. This trine acts as a buffer to the harsh square New Moon makes to Uranus.
Think Love! Love is all we need!
Saturn in Aquarius - Saturn aligns very close to the Sun & Moon conjunction, so we may be feeling its affect on us. Saturn will give us life lessons & a good wake up call. Its energies can be harsh. We may be asking ourselves some serious questions in response to areas we have lacked responsibility for ourselves & actions. We are being urged to ask ourselves whether our behaviour is in alignment with our desires. We may be led to confront those areas. On the other hand we may find ourselves facing challenges which serve toward our goals.
Where Saturn energies turn up there is opportunity for growth & success. The lessons we are given to learn, we are ready to deal with. These will enable us to grow, move forward & toward the life we want to lead.
We can use this energy to infuse perseverance into any troubling or challenging situations we are facing or have been dealing with.
Saturn offers us a support if we are aligning to our true purpose & understands we have to work hard to accomplish this task. It offers us the strength to pursue & find a way through toward our long term plans. There are always rewards to reap after Saturn's tasks are complete.
Finally, we have Mercury retrograde in Capricorn to consider. Mercury Rx remains retrograde until 3rd February, when its affects will begin to diminish & many can return to leaping into plans involving communication, legally binding contracts & anything electrical!
This is a great New Moon for setting long term goals by using Saturn energy to set our intentions, knowing we have support & a bit more oomph from the taskmaster itself. Allowing gestation until after Mercury Rx on 3rd February to then take action with Mercury’s direct motion, offers us a cosmic opportunity to set sail on our newest soul adventure.
