ASTRO NEW MOON IN SAGITTARIUS

All Hail & Welcome to Astro, my journeying through cosmic energies on offer to us at New & Full Moon’s throughout the year. A very auspicious New Year to you, if you celebrate the Wheel of the Year. I find that the next couple of months contain a variety of references to new year or the returning of the Sun/ Son/ Sol. I feel to celebrate many of these during this time as it wholly resonates with me that a new beginning takes some time to settle in & get comfy before the outer work begins again. As such our references to New year begin with our internal machinations whilst we redefine ourselves within our own sacred cavern-space. Much like Mother Earth receding into the ground to regenerate after a long year of upward motion, we too need to take some advice & recede for our own wisdom which resides inside of us. Deities we resonate with at this time of year often recede to the Underworld or Otherworld to attend to inner workings. This Full Moon is in the sign of Sagittarius The Archer, so its time to take aim at our desires or desired outcomes for this season.
Sagittarius is the sign of the Centaur. The Centaur carries with him his bow & arrow to enable true aim in the right direction of our desires. So, is it time to fire arrows of desire or is it time to reflect as we approach the winter solstice in December? The conundrum is real. As we explore the new moon phase & all its cosmic influences we may find ourselves ready to expand into abundance with the powerful presence of Jupiter of success & silver linings. Ok lets get on with our journeying into the New phase moon & beyond….
New Moon is a time of ideas & innovations. We may feel a sudden surge of newness coming from our ideas, conversations & connections. It is the end of an old cycle & beginning of a new rotation of Lunar goodness. New Moon occurs when the Sun & Moon sit next to each other, conjunct in the same sign. This month’s lunation is accompanied by the presence Mercury of communication & travel who will be transiting Capricorn until 23rd December, when it returns to Sagittarius. So we can expect these areas of our lives to be highlighted during this phase. We are also under a heavy influence of the giant planet Jupiter of expansion, abundance & luck making . Jupiter is also the ruler of Sagittarius, so this lunation can be one of the most auspicious for manifesting our desires.
New Moon is a time for preparing to plant our seeds of desire for the month or year ahead. It is a time of contemplation & darkness within which we find our deepest desires. New moon is the very beginning of the lunar cycle, when the thinnest of silver slithers can be seen in the night sky. Prior to this we have dark moon, when the sky is void of the moon altogether, I’ll leave that for another discussion. A maiden’s Winter to Spring time moon phase, generating new ideas and planning new projects, new beginnings, soul searching and discovering our personal truths. New moon is a time when the Sun and Moon share the same degree in the same Sun / Star sign. This means that your exterior personality, your ego and your interior personality, your emotions and feelings are in balance with each other.
This provides us with a clarity around ourselves.
Just sit with that thought for a minute.
New Moon is the best time to set intentions, plant the seeds of hope for what we would like to nurture and grow for the coming month or as part of our annual intentions, a bit like new years resolutions but with more clout behind them! This is the new fresh cycle, the new chapter if you like. New moon brings abundant opportunities to start over, rework areas of your life, or make the adjustments needed to previous plans which we have already been working on. On a personal note, it encourages me to stand in my truth and do the work that is freely flowing to me, spiritually and practically.
Sagittarius likes change! That’s a great thing considering what may come our way within the next couple of weeks. I feel this deeply at this present moment. Sagittarius positive qualities are honesty, optimism, enthusiasm, independence, adventure, outspokenness, intellect, curiosity, generosity & directness. The symbol for this sign is the bow & arrow of the archer. We are being encouraged to aim high , touch the divine & gain knowledge, discover cosmic enigma’s , to seek & speak the truth. This New Moon has great manifestation potential & brings us a huge boost of positivity, optimism & luck. The bow & arrow reminds us that wherever we aim, our arrows of intent will land with force & attitude. So take aim by all means, being sure in your strength & destination.
Ask yourself:
Where can I positively integrate the qualities of the archer into my life?
What is it I wish to attract into life?
Where do I need to infuse more faith & how can I do this to the best of my abilities? What new innovation can help to solve problems?
A Sagittarius New Moon calls us to upgrade our understanding & perceptions of the world we live in. We are being called to become courageous & welcome expansive thinking. We are being asked to view our big picture with trust & positivity. Our expansion will aid in changing the way we think, exceeding the mundane. We are in a place in which we can & must retain hope, faith & our future vision. Most of all we must trust that we will not assume the outcome, but be open-minded in our expectations. We are being asked to step out from the programming & believe in our own projections, working toward them with an ‘outside of the box’ attitude. Sagittarius thinks big & we are expected to follow this trail of thought. We must be assertive in our deeds but also mindful of our actions & how they may affect those around us. This is our chance to create the life we’ve been dreaming of, rather than to repeat the cycles which we have already taken lessons from & no longer serve a purpose.
Ask yourself :
Am I ready to level up?
What am I taking with me on this adventure?
What will I need to leave behind?
Where am I aiming my arrows?
Planetary influences
Now here is the conundrum! We have several planets in play at the moment. Jupiter is the ruler of Sagittarius, so wherever the giant planet is stationed will need to be considered for its affect on this New Moon. We also have Mercury moving between signs & the North node highlighting areas of neglect which may also come into play. Lets take a deeper dive…..
New Moon square ( hard aspect) Neptune in Pisces - be careful of illusion & deception. Be mindful of swinging from one extreme to the other. Deception versus fantasy. Neptune is where we are inspired but also where we could be deceiving ourselves & being over idealistic.
Mars in Sagittarius (loose conjunction) - A fiery planet in a fiery sign! Watch for tempers & exaggerations. Be mindful of taking action in a raw state of mind.
New Moon Trine north node in Taurus - Allow for those areas you may have neglected to have their space & time to come to the surface & be administered.
New Moon Trine Jupiter in Taurus - New Moon in Sagittarius Trine ( beneficial aspect of working well together) is also opposite Venus in Scorpio. All of this can mean expansion in the areas of love & finance. Everything Jupiter touches is blessed. Confidence, self belief, joy, freedom, seeing the bigger picture, which is also a Sagittarius trait. Be mindful that Jupiter expands all it comes into contact with. Jupiter’s positive side encourages all I’ve mentioned but its darker side can expand on lack of everything. So be mindful of your thoughts & acknowledge the good & positive areas of life that give hope & allow us to thrive.
Mercury challenges the luminaries in turning retrograde the day after New Moon so we may be in flux with communications, perhaps thinking twice about something , reorganising plans & lacking clarity of what we are doing at this time. Mercury will travel from Capricorn to Sagittarius over its retrograde period. Perhaps a good thing Is to acknowledge this shift in pattern by feeling into the Mercury vibe at this time. Preparation is always better than getting caught unaware.
