Astro: New Moon, Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius

Astro New Moon, solar eclipse in Sagittarius December 2020

Hail & welcome to Astro: New Moon. This month we have so much going on, its been a little confusing to write it all with clarity, but you will not be disappointed, I assure you! With a total Solar Eclipse, not visible to some of the world, we will still feel its effects on us, our surroundings & lives. In addition, we are In the month of Fiery Sagittarius, the Archer, so its time to have a really good think about what makes us joyous but also that which brings out the worst in us. Recognising & acknowledging what brings out our best & worst aspects highlights areas to work on & also to release for our own good. This can be an arduous process, but with the correct aim, we can accomplish anything.

New moon is the very beginning of the lunar cycle, when the thinnest of silver slithers can be seen in the night sky. A maiden’s Winter to Spring time moon phase, generating new ideas and planning new projects, new beginnings, soul searching & discovering your personal truths. New moon is a time when the Sun & Moon share the same degree in the same Sun / Star sign. This means that our exterior personality, our ego & our interior personality, your emotions and feelings are in complete balance with each other. This provides us with a clarity around ourselves. Just sit with that thought for a minute before moving on.

New Moon is the best time to set intentions, plant the seeds of hope for what we would like to nurture & grow for the coming month or as part of our annual intentions, a bit like new years resolutions but with more clout behind them! This is the new fresh cycle, the new chapter if you like. New moon brings abundant opportunities to start over, rework areas of our life, or make the adjustments needed to previous plans which we may have already been working on. On a personal note, it encourages me to stand in my truth & do the work that is freely flowing to me, spiritually and practically, unhindered by mundane distraction.

This month November - December is overseen by the fiery zodiac sign Sagittarius, (22 November - 20 December). So the Sun and Moon both sit in this sign at New Moon phase. Sagittarius is also known as the Centaur & the Archer. What do archer’s do best? They load up their bows, take aim, and fire their arrows with great verve and precision. The Centaur is a natural and wise leader. If we tap into this wisdom, it allows us to direct arrows in the direction that supports our highest growth. Sagittarius is ruled by the planet of luck and expansion, the mighty Jupiter. I know we have been under the light of a deeply transforming Scorpio moon and prior to that we were encouraged to find balance under Libra. So what has all of this been leading us to? Sagittarius season is one where we can appreciate the goodness in our lives, being thankful for our good fortune. It also encourages us to think about those in the world who are less fortunate than we are & to give something back. This New Moon can raise our vibration in that we consider what we can do to be of service to others. We can expand our way of thinking by seeking out & learning new & ancient ways of the ancestors, which will encourage us to live a life in symbiosis with our planet; to reach further into our psyche & to listen for the answers to our questions on truth & purpose. Sagittarius loves to learn, expand & uncover truths. This New Moon is encouraging us to remember & to accept changes we have been experiencing. It is the perfect time to ask ourselves what it is that excites us & what new venture could serve our personal & spiritual growth. What feels purposeful to our higher self?

Sagittarius season is a time when Mother Nature recedes back into herself to complete the inner workings, behind the scenes that we see & enjoy on our planet with each seasonal shift. We should take a leaf out of her book & mirror her actions. Sagittarius season heralds us toward the end of the year, into Winter we go, so is a time between seasons, where we think rather than do. We return to ourselves, take stock of what has happened this past year. We consider what worked out & what didn’t, release that which has become obsolete & begin to make plans to further implement positive change & to think of what will serve us best in the coming new year (Capricorn Season). This is our time to hibernate and enjoy the warmth of the hearth, rejuvenating & readying ourselves for the next season. Unfortunately, because of our societal norms & pressures, many people are out of synch with the seasons in this way & suffer during this period with exhaustion due to feeling compelled to partake in the festive cheer. Its that time of year to celebrate, be sociable with friends & colleagues, if restrictions allow! Yule is on its way & the return of the Sun, its waxing energy with fiery Sagittarius will be helping us to warm up the roots of our desires & dreams. The perfect mix of Sagittarian energy is to go within to learn deep truths & heal the wounded shadow. However, the flip side to Sagittarius is that restlessness & want to get out and about, to experience & socialise as is our natural human state. Sagittarius’ mutable qualities make for an adaptable month. My advice though, is try not to burn-out, especially if the plan is to burst forth in the Spring time with new plans & projects dreamt up over the darker part of the year. Find a happy medium, know yourself well enough to say no, when to have some Me time or rest. Being festive & sociable In you own space as it makes for a better more ‘in synch with the season’ kind of month. For some this will be the only choice this year.

New Moon and Sagittarius will affect us over the next few weeks with healing of the shadow, finding clarity, taking a leap in the direction of our sense of purpose & passions as well as trusting & honouring the returning light to invigorate the plans we will set in motion.

The total eclipse in Sagittarius is a grand portal of energy set to boost amplification exponentially, which will help us to take huge leaps in our personal development & where, what, how we envisage a new future. This is the most light we have received all year, so make the most of the regeneration process during what is possibly the most powerful time of 2020. This eclipse is directly connected to work you were performing on the eclipse of 5th June. If you journal, this should be an easy to reveal.

As ever there are planetary influences with this New Moon which should been taken seriously at this time. A grand cross appears in the chart for this New Moon which not only involves the north & south nodes, but also the qualities of asteroid Vesta & planet Neptune. A grand cross means that there is a square of planets separated by 90°, two planets separated by 180°, opposite each other. This is a very potent & challenging aspect which is fully charged with potential for resistance & growth. This cross is demanding we think outside the box whilst we solve problems & issues. It is demanding the we grow & awaken to a higher consciousness. Let me break this down a bit:

Vesta in Virgo. Vesta is the high priestess who attends to the flames of our hearts desires. She commits to aiding us in our journey to aspire to our most authentic selves.

Vesta is opposite Neptune in Pisces. Neptune is the planet of breaking illusion & in opposition to Vesta offers us an awakening to the illusory story of our world.

The opposing Lunar Nodes; North in Gemini, South in Sagittarius; guide us to aspirations of service to the greater good, by speaking out & writing, researching & working toward awakening a new era & the creation of a better existence.

Vesta places us firmly in our heart-space desires & the nodes place us in the authoritative narrative, giving us power to communicate from our heart-space. Neptune takes us on a visual quest of change & possibilities. As we enter a space of commitment to being fully present by embodying our authentic selves, speaking the deep truths of our inner personality, from the depths into the truth, we are allowing our inner light to shine. Although the truth can hurt, it is necessary to be in that truth to be able to fully move forward.

“Once you are ready to align to your authentic path, those things which are misaligned, will have to be shed. This can be people, places, careers, family members, friends, business. Those things which you have filled your life with, that do not resonate with who you are becoming & the path you are on. It can be a long arduous process filled with pain, but when we rise from this place and take our steps toward that end, we will be ready for what comes next. Forward motion rather than inertia & the bright light of authentic self, truly something to look forward to, to keep our vision at the forefront for this most important manifestation.”

The addition to Saturn’s shifting energy, who on 17th December is set to leave its 2 1/2 year stint in Capricorn & enter the sign of Aquarius, will not only add to this amplification but also leave rewards for all our hard work in the areas that we have grown & been most challenged. Stay open to receive the goodness by being alert in these areas rather than distracted by the mundane, or you risk missing the gifts that the cosmos has for you.

Speaking on the returning light & Saturn, Winter Solstice takes place 21st December, bringing with it the promise of longer days amongst other things. This year we will experience a galactic alignment & great conjunction of the planets, Saturn & Jupiter in Aquarius. This alignment will open the portal for profound change to take place on a grand scale. A huge sign of awakening consciousness. Let me break this down:

Saturn is the ruler of regulations, karma & discipline. He asks for us to be disciplined & perform spiritual work. For some this will be a big reveal of the ways we need to step into our authenticity, by shedding what is misaligned. For others it may mean reaping in the rewards of hard work done by aligning ourselves. Saturn wants us to work hard & be responsible for ourselves.

Jupiter is the ruler of expansion, freedom, wisdom & travel. We will be gifted when we perform the work Saturn is requiring of ourselves.
