Astro New Moon Aries
21-22 March 2023
All Hail & Welcome to a new Zodiac year! A new Moon in Aries means a new year of evolution, much forward motion & encouragement to get us leaping & bounding toward Springtime, here in the Northern Hemisphere. As both luminaries take a seat next to each other in Aries, we find other very close protagonists pulling up a chair in Aries too. A new cycle starts & a fresh image of what we really want to manifest into our lives emerges from our minds, desires & dreams. We may have very big plans ahead of us and this New Moon in Aries is an extremely positive portal of manifestation energy. We’ve also had Saturn move into Pisces which is a very big component of the next three years of manifestation. In addition, the biggest mover & shaper of the next two decades is about to make its move into Aquarius. Pluto shifts this month into Aquarius & this is the biggest move of this year as it will affect a generational swathe globally over the next two decades! So not only do we have Saturn leaving its 3 year residence of Pisces, bringing to an end a three year Karmic cycle, think 2020 onwards, we also have Pluto death & rebirth, wealth & power exhibiting new trends for us to contemplate. Big movers & shakers are on our horizon, along with the new beginnings of the Zodiac year & Aries New Moon which all indicate brand new beginnings to spring into action for.
New Moon is a time of preparation, intention setting & new beginnings. Here we stand at the ending of one cycle & on the threshold of a new 28 days of lunar phasing. It is a time of balance, hope & desire, dreams & intentions, of confidently allowing ourselves to feel into what we really want in our lives. This New Moon is asking us to take action on any area of life which is making itself prominent to complete its cycle & clear the way for the newness on offer to us at this potent time. We are being encouraged to step into our authentic self loud & proud but not obnoxiously! New Moon gives us a time of self expression & confidence to really put our desires into a space of manifestation. Like a vegetable patch which has been turned & prepared for seeding, the New Moon allows for us to plant those seeds of intent with hope in our hearts & minds. To make space for what is to come, we must first be sure to release that which is no longer of service to us, our paths & lives. This can be very difficult & we may get caught up in the process of acknowledgement & release, but that’s ok because this is the first of two Aries New Moon’s in a row & the next is part of eclipse season, so will resonate for at least 6 weeks.
Aries new Moon is a potent manifestation portal, one of the biggest & best of this year. As Aries begins the Zodiac year, it carries with it the real potential of new beginnings, a little like New Moon. This Aries New Moon gives us a new platform of our own making to stand upon. It allows us the intense concentration we need to begin new projects, ventures, to take initiatives & opportunities to the next level. This New Moon stands at the very beginning of the sign of Aries & gives us a massive boost of energy to help in our endeavours. We now have the motivation & opportunity to bring our ideas to life. What is inside of us is being encouraged to come out & play. If we can encompass the positives of the Aries ram, we will find it a good time to commit to our personal goals with confidence. We can now make the foundational plans for what we wish to harvest later on in the year. If we can be confident & assertive without being harsh, we can take control of our lives. This is the first of two Aries New Moons, which connect & elongate this portal to last up to six months! Aries learns through action & experience; wants us to express our truest self in an authentic way. This phase encourages us to become self reliant & so our ideas can become tangible by doing so we serve our inner selves by creating the fundamental happiness of self sufficiency. If you find that you are in a rut, get out there & experience something new which breaks the old stagnation of ‘settled for routine’. It will usher in a newness for us that feels like a breath of fresh air & a taste of freedom.
Aries houses both luminaries this month & with it a couple of other planets.
Mercury in Aries aligns to offer clear communication & mental awareness.
Mars, ruler of Aries, sets a loose square to the luminaries & Mercury, so we need to be on the watch for becoming impulsive, aggressive & jumping to conclusions. Remember both Aries & Mars have similar qualities, however at this time they are in each other’s ruling house. Mars is in Gemini, ruled by Mercury & Mercury is in Aries, ruled by Mars. This combination at a Square can become troublesome if allowed. The most conducive way to tap into this duo is to harness the potent learning & communication aspects that seem to be seeping through to this lumination. It all helps us to manifest in the long run.
Having said that, Pluto is on the move, shortly after New Moon, into Aquarius. This is the biggest catalyst of change for us on a global & personal level this year & will continue to be a theme for two decades whilst it traverses the sign of the water bearer! The last time Pluto was in Aquarius was over 200 years ago, so this is a huge move for us in modern society. Pluto the Planet of transformation, healing, passion & rebirth, makes its move into Aquarius only days after the Taskmaster of Karma, Saturn has moved from Aquarius to Pisces. As Saturn completes its karmic cycle, we find closure to the past three years, we may see a light at the end of the tunnel & the ability to turn our dreams to reality. In addition, we now have the power to clear away once & for all, all that is of no benefit to who we have become or are becoming. Pluto is where we can transform ourselves, where our power & magick reside. In addition, Pluto is Lord of the Underworld & as such can prompt destruction, violence, power struggle & obsession. Its one thing to think of the Saturn - Pisces union of intangible to the tangible being in our spheres but we all know that to move on we must first allow the debridement of that which is no longer benefitting us in any way or preventing us from becoming. This can refer to internal work as well as external influence. These two will keep popping up to us over the next few years to decades. The dance has begun…..
A quick reminder for self care. Take care of yourself, be well & keep well.
