Nature’s Familiars
The Fox & the Wolf were very good friends
Who protect each other where ‘ere the road bends
One looks in front, the other behind
With all great certainty, their fates are entwined
They’ve hunted together for many a season
Though solitary by nature, the have a good reason
Their friendship, a symbol of all that is good
Of all that connects in Nature’s Wild wood
They eat & rest, they play & frolic
& under full moons, their howls are bucolic
The Wolf & the Fox, it is plain to see
The world does not fool them
As it does you & me
They’re connection is deep
As if they were brothers
They will not fear, that which comes from others
They’re closer to Nature, as close as can be
The Fox & the Wolf who walk beside me.
