Hail & Welcome to this months Astro Astro new Moon article. This month our new moon is in the sign of Capricorn. The Sun is also in the sign of Capricorn and there will be an annular solar eclipse at the time of the new Moon. What does all this mean for those of us who are affected by the phases of the Moon and Sun? Let me explain...

A new moon is a time when the moon is seen as a slim silver crescent in the sky, prior to this phase we have a dark moon where the moon is not visible to us here on Earth. New moon is a good phase and time for processing ideas and setting intentions which we wish to nurture into our big dreams and ideas which could shape our lives. This month’s new moon marks the end of the old Gregorian year and heralds in the new. With this in mind, we can close off any plans which no longer serve us and begin to ready the ground for planting the seeds of a new year, new ideas, new beginnings.

A partial solar eclipse is when the Moon travels in between the Earth and Sun. The Moon sits in perfect alignment with both and eclipses the Suns rays. This month's partial solar eclipse is an annular solar eclipse, which means that the moon will darken the Sun but not all of it will be obscured. The diameter of the moon is smaller than the Sun, thus leaving a ring of light around the eclipsed Sun. This eclipse will challenge how you deal with authority. The effects of the new moon partial Solar eclipse will last for up to six months.

Both Moon and Sun are in Capricorn so we can find the balance of inner personality and ego. We are being influenced by the aspects which Capricorn carries with it. This means we are encouraged to, tap into this cardinal signs attributes and to be aware of its pitfalls, to avoid going too far over from positive to negative. Capricorn is an action sign which likes to complete tasks. Capricorn energy is practical, disciplined, committed, ambitious and wise. The negatives to watch for are materialism, pessimism, stubbornness, detachment and moodiness. Much like other Cardinal signs, Earthy Capricorn is an action sign and heralds new beginnings and the ability to end and release that which no longer serves our purpose and path. This practical sign is ambitious and encourages us to amplify our thoughts and to think big. Experience is everything here, and Capricorn wants you to learn to know your limits by taking big actions! Capricorn is also very astute and cautious, requiring us to look at long term plans with a view to thorough research before taking any action. Find your balance within all of this information and try not to let any one thing become more overwhelming than the other.

The Sun is conjunct the Moon which means there are a lot of possibilities and outcomes depending on your actions and reactions. You can push for your future plans. This is a great time for new starts, new resolutions for your future self and life you wish to move toward.

Moon is conjunct Jupiter. Now this is the big influence of this new Moon. Jupiter is the planet of luck and expansion. So expect goodness to come from whatever you are aiming for. Expect doors to open in your career. Expect expansion in areas of your life that you have been working on, whether that be emotionally, practically, spiritually, financially. Jupiter is going to be a key player with this moon phase so watch out for this rising energy. Jupiter wants you to do more than you think you can because giving something a go means you know your limitations. In addition you can expect the offer of protection and confidence from this big planet’s energies, but be mindful of Jupiter’s qualities of taking things one step further. Watch for ‘over doing It’ in areas such as expenditure, eating, exercise and commitment.
So what is up for grabs with this new Moon?
This is a great new Moon for manifestation, Journal and vision board all you want to achieve from life, then visualise this beyond the limits of your every day expectations and into your outer limitations. You may find yourself driven and a rise in energy may occur. Be conscientious and keep your eyes on the prize, but allow yourself breaks when needed. Ignoring the latter can have the adverse effects I’ve been discussing. Set your annual intentions now and begin the final section of the zodiac and new year with clarity in your mind and life. Don’t be afraid if new ideas come up and you feel they are right for you, take it all in your stride.
This new Moon partial solar eclipse is also a great time to reach out the spiritual feelers, to step up into your truth and to speed up your spiritual growth. There is closure and new intent in the air. Be kind to yourself and your journeying. Its time to forgive, release and heal. It is time to open up and know that you are in a position of readiness for a deeply transformative 2020. Trust yourself and your intuition. Time to release the inner child. This may feel like a prompt to clear out old patterns and childlike manifestations or it could encourage you to sort out family dramas which have plagued your mind and may have created a reaction which is non conducive to you or your relationships. Whatever it is, go with the flow of what sits right with how far you are prepared to take it.
There is an optimism in the air. There is a flowing generosity up for grabs. There is good luck on offer, expansion and happiness in all areas of life. This IS a REALLY GOOD New Moon phase. Furthermore, this beautiful energy will be carrying us forward to the new year which holds so much of all I’ve discussed. This is a practical new Moon which encourages us to have a damn good clear out of what you no longer need in your life in all areas. This is so important for the benefit of your progression. Prepare to rid your life of negative People, feelings, old habits and family disagreements. Be ready for the new shift of 2020. The big shift will be greatly influenced by the Saturn - Pluto conjunction in January. I will discuss this further and in more detail in my Full moon article in early January.
