Astro Full Moon Total Lunar Eclipse
Blood Moon in Taurus 8/11/22 @ 11 :02 GMT
All Hail & Welcome to another journeying through the cosmic energies on offer to us at this time of total lunar eclipse AKA Blood Moon. What is a blood moon? A blood moon occurs when the Sun passes through the Earth’s shadow/ Umbra & causes only red light to illuminate the Moon therefore becoming reddened in hue. This we call a blood moon as the colour the moon takes on whilst this phenomenon is occurring is usually a deep shade of red. The Moon is also in the sign of Taurus opposite the Sun in Scorpio, so this is set to be truly transformative in our personal sphere of connectivity to ourselves, relationships with others, past hurts & will help us to regain our connection to Mother Earth’s heart beat, if we open ourselves to these forces available to us. There may be a lot of purging taking place & it is for us to create more space for our truest desires. In addition, we have a plethora of planets in play which will amplify power or soothe transitioning. To begin our journeying, lets take a look at the international phenomenon we call ‘naming the Moon’ ….
Naming the Moon
The moon has entranced humankind since time immemorial. The appearance of the moon through the phases has intrigued many civilizations across the globe. Many peoples have used the moon phases as a guide on how and when to seed, rest and harvest plants, which a have been mainly used in agriculture & herblore. Each geographical area has differing climates, therefore naming the full phase moon is often onomastic to crops in flower or ready to harvest. With this in mind we discover the differences. The Native American names for the November moon are Frosty Moon, Beaver Moon, Dark Moon, Tree Moon and Snow Moon, much like the Montana tribes who named it the Frost Moon. In addition, the North Canadian Inuit peoples named this moon the Freezing Mist Moon, brrrr!. All of these names are tangible given this time of year in the Northern hemisphere is often a time of the first frosts we see. The Chinese people call this the White Moon. In India the calendar is solar/ lunar therefore we are in the month of Kartika in which the observations of Kartik , Guru Nanak Jayanti & Tripurari Purnima are witnessed and attended. The Ogham month is Reed. Reed is generally used for whistle making & the haunting sounds it creates are symbolic of the calling of the dead to the underworld whilst the veil is at its thinnest. This is a time for scrying & seance, spirit guides, energy workings, meditation, celebrating the dead & once again honouring the cycles of our great Mother Gaia. The British medieval Celtic names for the November moon are Mourning Moon & Darkest Depths Moon. They indicate that we are in the month in which deep transformations begin to take place, in which we delve deep into soul work & face our shadow selves. Working together to tend to ourselves and allowing ourselves to feel out old hurts, states of mind, habits & emotions in an attempt to release and make space for that which is to come.
Below is a list of websites for spiritual & religious celebrations & observances for the month of November:
Astrology
A quick advice note: Astrology is a general guide to helping us to understand the movement of the universe in our lives and how this can affect us on an annual, bi-annual, bi-monthly, monthly or daily basis. As a rule of thumb it is a general guide and not specific to all. Our experience of the cosmos, movements, conjunctions, full moons, zodiac signs are all individual. Why is that? Well, When you are born, the stars are aligned in such a way that they will not be realigned again in exactly the same way for at least another 26,000 years!! I know its incredible right? This means that only someone born on the same day or time as you will have similar experiences to how you perceive the universe and how it effects you. In addition, only the outer planets of our solar system have an effect on whole generations, as it takes them a lot longer to move through the zodiac and thus they generate energies for whole groups of people born with them in the same house of their natal charts. We truly are unique in our experience of the cosmos. Doesn’t that just blow your mind?
Full Moon is a time of abundance & fruition of those intentions we set at New Moon. It is a time in which we see the fruits of our labours ready for harvest, ripen & glow with the cycle of our intentions. In the case of blood moon, a total eclipse along the Taurus -Scorpio axis, we may need to pay attention to Taurus & Scorpio areas in our lives in addition to what was happening the last time we experienced this type of eclipse, back in May. There may be themes which may be revisited, not that we will experience the exact same events, moreover working through a similar set of teachings, which may be connected to our soul paths. Eclipse can act as an instigator urging us on our journeying. In addition it can be a precursor to transformative events. Transformation can be a painful healing process in which we discover the layers we need to peel away in order to find our sacred inner truth & move toward that end, a healing journey. Therefore we may find that at this time we are more privy to feeling into our pains, struggles & midwifing the newness, within a sphere of intensity, the like of which we felt back in May.
Think back to what was occurring around the May Blood Moon Eclipse & ask:
What was happening in life around May time?
Was there a general theme which can be related to this Blood Moon Eclipse?
Are the themes continuing or bringing to an end what was occurring at this time?
Where in life needs improvement?
Am I ready to let go of that which is no longer serving a purpose in my life?
Can I take these lessons & heal that part of myself that needs to be healed?
Am I ready for this purging & healing?
Whatever comes to us, we are being encouraged to sit with & learn, to think before we act, especially if we have been wrestling with strong feelings or emotional blocks. Wisdom is knowing when & how to act. This comes from contemplation rather than reaction.
Sun in Scorpio is transformative, deeply emotional. Be mindful of energy levels. Our intense feelings at this time can have the effect of burn out. To avoid it, be mindful of what may be draining our energy levels or which environment is syphoning our energies. Be still. Drink lots of water to keep the body hydrated, that way thoughts can have clarity & contain more inner knowledge than we may have expected. A deep flow of sensuality may also play part in this lunation, so be aware of how energy in our relationships is playing out.
Full Moon in Taurus is Earthy, steady & reliable. Taurus likes to get on with it in a methodical way. We may feel that our emotions need to be honoured in a much more logical way than they may have been. Take time for self care in addition to paying attention to the dynamics of our closest relationships. We begin at source & let the vibrations of heart resonate into everything we come into contact with. If that is not possible, take time to sit with how this emotional tide is affecting us & allow it to take its own time to surface & energise us. Mother Gaia energy is very strong at this moment, beckoning retreat to inner workings, so a good idea is to tap into the beat of this vibration & give ourselves permission to feel into whatever comes to us.
Most of all be gentle with yourself. Allow the flow to take care of life’s generosity & abundance. Even if the feeling is to hide, do so & retreat within to find your power & honour it.
Planetary influences
Uranus, planet of awakening, the unexpected & chaos is very active . Time to explore what freedom means to us. We may feel to cut chords which have had us bound to ways we no longer find serve us most effectively. We may need to let go of concepts regarding the beige box we have squeezed ourselves into to fit into society. Whatever it is, give yourself permission to feel into it & do what fells right for you. finally, the possibility of shocking news or a surprise could occur with Uranus in play.
Venus may have us concentrating on our close relationships, romantic life. In addition, Venus will also have us ask ourselves where we value ourselves most & where we may be selling ourselves short. By questioning our values or how worthy we feel to have what we have, we can gauge clarity within this lunations flow & find self worth in areas we thought there was none. This helps us to locate where we must release those feelings of unworthiness. We are being asked to be truthful with ourselves, to no longer hide the shiny parts of us & give ourselves permission to glow with self worth & confidence.
Saturn is also on the scene. Planet of karma can bring us some dense energies. With this influence we may find hard truths & past hurts come back to us. These come now to be dealt with & released once & for all. Whatever has been on our minds from the past may make us angry or annoyed, hurt or deeply wounded again. Journalling can help, speaking it aloud & casting it to the wind to take & dispel, or writing & burning the words may help to release pain & give us the ability to move on.
We are looking forward to a new chapter as the wheel turns. We are being encouraged to soul search, go within, find our true self & act upon clearing space for all the newness life has for us. It doesn’t pay to dwell on things that bring us pain. Those who went before are honoured by us recognising & celebrating them, rather than mourning an entire lifetime for them. Take this time as opportunity to recognise that which is in need of release for us to move forward.

Total lunar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes completely through the Earth's dark shadow, or umbra, the Moon will gradually get darker and then take on a rusty or blood red colour. Eclipse visible throughout eastern Russia, Japan, Australia, Pacific Ocean, parts of western & central North America.
9 - Uranus at Opposition.
The blue-green planet, its closest approach to Earth, its face fully illuminated by the Sun, will be brighter than any other time of the year, visible all night long. Best time to view Uranus, due to its distance only appears as a tiny blue-green dot in all but the most powerful telescopes.

Leonids is an average shower, producing up to 15 meteors per hour. It has a unique cyclonic peak about every 33 years where hundreds of meteors per hour can be seen. The last was in 2001. Leonids is produced by dust grains left behind by comet Tempel-Tuttle, discovered in 1865. Shower runs annually from November 6-30, peaking night-morning of 17th & 18th. A 2nd quarter moon will block many fainter meteors, Leonids may be unpredictable & there is still chance of a good show. Best viewing from a dark location after midnight. Meteors radiate from the constellation Leo, appearing anywhere in the sky.
